And sorry for agreeing about RENT with you on an unrelated
space...but you're right, it is not much of a success outside the USA.

Arent they all the same thing....
If I had to choose one of his overrated and repetitive scores it would have to be JCS. Other than that, what is the point other than a good laugh. Phantom has cool sets and tech, but that wasnt Webber. And Cats? I SERIOUSLY believe he was high when he wrote that.
London Boy why do you hate RENT so much?

Well, but if repetitive is the issue, there's nothing worse than Les Miz.

Umm, Evita, JCS, Sunset, Phantom, Cats
Oh and joseph bored me almost to the point of death.
Those are the only one's I've seen. But Starlight Express looked pretty bad.

I won't go into why i hate Rent here. I've made that mistake before and found that 'rentheads' are an empassioned and opinionated group who LOVE Rent.

It's hard to pick a favorite Andrew Llyod Webber since I don't really like any of his work (actually just the other day I ran across a "Best of Andrew Lloyd Webber CD" and laughed my head off that someone could actually make an Andrew Lloyd Webber CD and attach the word 'best' to it, I thought that was impossible). If I had to choose though, I would have to say Evita was tolerable enough and then Phantom.

Whichever musical had the shortest run--"Aspects of Love", was it?
I ask in all honesty/What would life be?/Without a song and a dance, what are we?/So I say "Thank you for the music/For giving it to me."

JCS. I also like Cats 'cause it's the first musical I've ever known.
I'm not a gay stereotype. I'm a coincidence.

By Jeeves was the shortest run -- two months.
The 1977 JCS revival only lasted three months, the 2000 JCS revival lasted just over 5 months and the 1994 Joseph revival ran just over 6 months.
Aspects ran almost a year.

LondonBoy - you're certainly entitled to hate Rent, but don't defend Cats without having actually SEEN the show (actually, same goes for hating Rent). Cats is a very pretty spectecale...but so is the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Show. There is no plot whatsoever. There are one or two decent songs, yes, but the overall show leaves me with the feeling of having just thrown a ton of money down the disposal just to see the wonder of it being shredded.

Evita, followed by Sunset Boulevard. I think Cats and Phantom are two of the most overrated shows ever, and I can't stand either one of them. Not a fan of Jesus Christ Superstar or Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I'm agnostic, so that might have something to do with it, but I just don't really like the scores. By Jeeves is okay I guess. Aspects of Love is so-so. Same with Song and Dance. I HATE Starlight Express with a passion. Haven't seen or heard Woman in White yet, so I can't comment on that.

I would have to say
1.Phantom
2.Joseph
3.JCS
Then I like alot of the music from Cats but I hate the show as a whole
(and this is an Andrew Lloyd Weber thread not a Stephen Swartz thread...)

I am an admirer of the works of Andrew Lloyd Webber and I enjoy most of his stage musicals.
My favourite ALW musical is ASPECTS OF LOVE - arguably his best musical score.
Second favourite is SUNSET BOULEVARD, which I think will translate well as a film.

Best to Worst:
Evita
Requiem
Jesus Christ Superstar
Sunset Boulevard
Whistle Down the Wind
All the rest are extremely varying to me:
Aspects of Love & Starlight Express are the worst IMO
CATS was the first Webber musical I ever saw
I have yet to hear Beautiful Game or The Woman in White
