When did they add the "Works every time!" to Bend and Snap?
#1When did they add the "Works every time!" to Bend and Snap?
Posted: 12/4/07 at 10:17pmWhen I saw LB in April, they didn't have it. And the recording doesn't have it either. But MTV does. And a lot of clips. When did this happen?? I was so disappointed when I first saw it and he didn't say it. But now he does!

You mean the cast recording? Yes it does- listen at 1:43. It's even in the lyrics in the cd.
Unless you're talking about the tony voters version of the cast recording, which does not have the 'works every time' in "Bend and Snap."

Posted: 12/4/07 at 10:47pmIt most certainly is on the cast recording. I don't imagine it was left off of only yours.

Do you have the real Cast Recording of it?
Be careful that if you are listening with headphones you them in both of your ears (as opposed to listening to it with one out) because a lot of the time during mixing they will make it so you hear different things in different ears.

Well, I THOUGHT I did...my friend gave it to me...so actually it might be the one that was leaked. Grrrr
But yeah it has nothing to do with headphones. Thanks, though

Does your version of "Bend and Snap" start with Leslie Kritzer's 'you've got the pom poms...' cheer? Or does it start with music?
Kritzer = leaked tony voter version
music = actual cast recording

It starts with Kritzer.
Thanks, Rachael *sarcasm* (she's the friend who gave it to me)

Posted: 12/5/07 at 2:55am"Works every time!" is a line from the film version that, I guess, they wanted to incorporate in the show. Interesting that it was an afterthought to add it in.

Posted: 12/5/07 at 10:08amI'd throw that leaked one in the garbage where it sounds like it was made! It's definitely on the real recording and he says it in the show.

Also, if your recording has an Overture -- that's the roughcut Tony Voters recording.
The officially released Original Broadway Cast Recording does not have an Overture.

In San Francisco "Bend and Snap" was boringly a little longer. The guy originally said something like "Face it honey, guys are slow, so bend down and show them your…". Then when they cut the song towards the end of the SF un, they inserted the "Works every time" line. Maybe it was a throwback to the movie, but also a way to keep a solo for the Hair Affair guy.

It was not there in April! I swear. I was waiting for it, never saw it. Believe me I was listening very closely. Look at the performance of Bend and Snap from the Today Show. That was I think in May. There is no "works every time"

Posted: 12/5/07 at 5:18pmSorry Maya but you're wrong again. Paul Canaan says that line every single show when he's taking the coffee cup out of Orfeh's hand right before Serena says look, do it and we'll go away. Is that specific enough to jog your memory?

Posted: 12/5/07 at 5:30pmThe last time I saw LB, "works everytime" was pretty quiet because of the loud music. Maybe that was the case.

That's correct, HumATune (above)
The gay guy originally had a verse in San Francisco that was funny. But, my guess is they cut it for (1) Time or (2) Keep the song family/hetero-friendly for the out-of-towners and parent-escorted-tweens.
Now it's just "works every time!" which... works!
