but i think that Stephanie J. Block should be Elphaba after Idina leaves.. she's just a shoe in! I love her! And I mean she already knows the part and everything!
"And if I'm flying solo.. at least I'm flying free..."
Ok, I am new, but listen up everyone. I really do not care if you like 'Wicked' or not, but if you don't then you don't need to get mad at a person asking questions, if you don't like the subject matter of the thread then go to a new one, no one is keeping you from pushing the back button. And one other thing, so what if people are enthused for a show, I am happy that Broadway is getting this reaction from so many people, do you want every show to close, because these are the people who are also putting up the money to see the shows that you like and I don't see them saying "Oh, well I hated Asassins because everyone is talking about it", all I am saying is come up with a better reason to hate a show rather than hating it because some girls said "OMG I LOVE WICKED!".
ok, idina's last day IS january 2. EVERYONE has bought tickets and it's posted EVERYWHERE. it's even on the official site. and i have a very strong feeling stephanie will replace idina. she even hinted in an interview that she wanted to do it. the only reason she left wicked was because a bigger part came along.
Yes. The only way you are guaranteed to see the show with Idina is to purchase tix before jan 2. However, she has the option to extend her contract, so she could very well be in for longer.
Also, Steph said in many interviews that she would like to play Elphaba, but...the offer was made and it just wasn't possible for her...not because of Boy from Oz (which closes next month), but because of a number of other things. Just FYI.
You know what would be really funny? If Idina did extend her contract and everyone that already bought tickets for her last day, well, it wouldn't be her last day...
What is Broadway? A street? Some say it's a street. Some say it is the best street in the world. Others think its terrible. That's the beauty of it, it's terribly beautiful. Some hate it and don't know why. Others love it and don't know why. That's what makes it so wonderful, it's a mystery.
I vote for Jennifer Holliday to replace Idina ....... and I'm only sorta joking .......

In all seriousness, I want to ask one very honest question. Unless there are posters on this board who are Menzel, or Block, or Beans' agent,in disguise, or are otherwise in a positon to gain FINANCIALLY by one of these women getting this or any other replacement role on Broadway, (which seems to be the sole and exclusive reason many of you ever post)...Why the hell do you care? And futhermore, why do you care so frequently and obsessively? How does it make any difference, in any of your lives. Wouldn't it be more productive to worry a tad bit more about your own lives, instead. Really, it's extremely unhealthy. And moreover, strange. Why do you all care, so much?
They create these message boards so that Bway freaks like me can discuss inane things like this. Trust me, who is taking over for Idina does not run my life, but it does interest me...so, take a breath, stretch, and calm down. =)
We're just concerned fans who want to know what is up, and try to get inside info any way we can get it. =)
Yeah I agree Millie. It's not that big of a deal in our lives but most of us love musicals and theatre (i hope..it'd be weird if ur on this site for another reason lol). We just wonder and compare our ideas and see if anyone else has the same ones or are interested in the same things thats all :)
margo- i have to agree with your idea, i mentioned it in the fantasy casting thread a while back

EponineThenardier: hey i have no clue when they announce. i think it will be closer to when she leaves but that's just my guessing.
but whoever said stephanie j. block should be the next elphaba. hell yeah! i love that girl. i would so pay to see wicked again if she took over.

I'd love to see Stephanie as Elphaba but alas, it't not to be. She turned down the offer to replace Idina so it's not going to happen yet. I guess I'll have to be content with the 2 songs she did at her concert.
