Sorry to have to devote a whole thread to this but don't they usually announce the performance numbers around this time?
Any predictions/hopes etc?

I'm anxious to see what they put in for Sweeney. A little Priest would make sense, but didn't someone say it was to long?
Maybe they will do a medley. Usually hate those.
I'm prettyu sure the preformances were already announced this time last year.
Maybe I'm making that up.

there have been 9284095628496286240624 threads on predictions. But thats cool. I dont know when they will announce the numbers. I can't wait to see what Drowsy's is.
I've been wondering how the opening will be this year with no host.
Even though I know they've done it before (like when Rosie hosted and JH sang in the opening) maybe some Dreamgirls in there to advertise the film a little? I know it's a long shot but any chance to see Jennifer makes those crazy faces I'll take!!

I want "A Little Priest" from Sweeney. It's my favorite song. Ever.
In the interest of appealing to a wider TV audience, they've added a few higher-profile stars this year.
Here's the list!
Opening Number: The latest American Idol finalists arrive singing an "updated" medley from Sweeney Todd.
Charro and Wil Smith peform Seasons of Love from "Rent" honoring its Tenth Anniversary.
Paris Hilton will perform "Show Off" from "The Drowsy Chaperone."
*NSYNC and Janet Jackson make a surprise appearance performing "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" from Jersey Boys. (Viewer discretion advised.)
More stars and songs to be added in the coming days...

Well, I think it was Manoel Felciano who said that they won't be doing a one/two person number. It will most likely be a medley of some sort. That's my prediction. But who knows...

Actually what Manoel Felciano said is that there are no numbers performed by one or two people in the show because even if the number features the two leads, the whole company plays the orchestra so they will have to be on stage either way. I hope they don't do a medley, they should let them do the whole version of "A Little Priest" but since that won't happen, I'd prefer it if they did "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd" or the Pirelli sequence.
So this doesn't lead into people putting words into other peoples mouths, Manoel said:
"We're very proud of our show, and now we get to go and do it on TV! And it won't be a number with just one or two people because we don't have an orchestra so they have to have us all on stage."
They can do a two person number such as A Little Priest, but at the Tony's, unlike at the Drama Desks, the cast would play the instruments, not the band.

LOL at the JH Unhinging her jaw. That performance made me fear for her oral safety.
i'm guessing that the opening will be some kind of mega medley of the 60 years. minimally all the shows currrently running.
I would be really annoyed if they did a medley for Sweeney. Plus, wouldn't that be at least more difficult than usual b/c of their playing their own instruments?
I would like them to do The Ballad of Sweeney Todd, although the sad thing about that is it doesn't really show off the leads. Obviously, I'd be okay with A Little Priest, but I'm not sure I'd want to see a condensed version of that...

I think The Ballad of Sweeney Todd would be their best bet. It will get people interested in the show because it's very creepy and haunting. It will make people want to see the show more than "A Little Priest" would.
