Ethel Merman if she were still alive.
Chita's already got one.
Aurda McDonald should do one.

I'd like to see a show by someone who has worked on Broadway for decades but not necessarily a "star" like Dick Lacessta (sp?) or Teri Ralston or Merle Louise

The stories they folks must have should be preserved.

Angela Lansbury -- from Hollywood (two Oscar nods) to Broadway (4 Tonys) plus an interesting personal life (mom was a stage mother; sons had major drug problems)

Carol Burnett

Shirley Maclaine -- is reportedly interested in doing a solo show on Broadway in the next year or two

Tommy Tune -- 9 time Tony winner (for acting, directing and choreographing); he's been around since the 60s and must have tons of stories

Betty Comden

Baayork Lee (her career stretches all the way back to being a kid in the original cast of King & I; one of Michael Bennett's core friends and colleagues, she'll be in charge of recreating the staging and choreography for the A Chorus Line revival -- she's overseen literally hundreds of productions of it around the workd in the past 30 years; might have some interesting stories to tell about being Asian on Broadway from the 50s on).

Lauren Bacall

Andre deShields (he's still got it!)

"What a story........ everything but the bloodhounds snappin' at her rear end." -- Birdie [http://margochanning.broadwayworld.com/] "The Devil Be Hittin' Me" -- Whitney

Menzel kinda already has one. Now she just needs to bring it to NY for a few dates. Or a mini-run. Or something.

I don't see why it has to be someone who's been around for a long time. If you have a story to tell, you have a story to tell...

Yes, both Teri Ralston and Merle Louise have a unique point of view and stories to tell. I saw Merle's cabaret act some years ago and a finer performer you could not imagine. I still remember her interpretations of My Father and Until Its Time For You to Go. In the age of AIDS she made a lasting impressions. Teri, of course, has had just a fabulous career. As a teenager I wrote her when she was in the Baker's Wife. That sweetheart sent a letter apologizing for taking so long to respond, saying "i'm finally in a show that is in trouble". What a thrill for a kid to get the inside scoop for the gal who Blessed this Day and new the difference between the soul and the heart. To paraphrase Horace Vandergelder: Wonderful WomEN.

BAAYORK LEE:

5 in KING AND I

Isn't Connie Wong "32" born in the Year of the Chicken."

Chorus Line: Time 1975

That makes King and I: 1948

Baayork should have set Dante/Kirkwood/Bennett straight.

(although she was in King and I)

I agree...I would love to see Bernadette Peters do one. Angela Lansbury too would be great, I love her....I think you guys have covered the ones on top of my list. I think a few more years, and Anthony Rapp should do one. I know he has a lot of stories to tell and encountered a lot of personal life issues during Rent and whatnot. But not for a couple years at least.

The one I want most is heading to the Dodgers Stages in the very near future. It's called SWIZZLE SWIT. I'm telling you, the theater world will never be the same!
