1) THE WEDDING SINGER
2) THE COLOR PURPLE
3) CATCH ME IF YOU CAN
4) THE FIRST WIVES CLUB
5) YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN
6) LEGALLY BLONDE
I would have to say THE FIRST WIVES CLUB only because I always thought it would make an amazing musical and when I found out that it was finally happening I almost peed myself. But, THE WEDDING SINGER is a close second because I think it is a great movie and has the potential to be a huge hit.
I am sure Young Frankenstein will be, by far, the best of the lot. I am definitly most excited about it.
The Color Purple
Young Frankenstein- I think this is going to be the best of all of them. :o)
Legally Blonde- yes, shoot me, but I'm excited for the music at least. I've heard 4 songs so far from it and they are so great. I love Larry O'Keefe. :o)
I'll say CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, only because Marc Shaiman and Scott Whitman are writing it and I have tremendous faith in their talent !
Legally Blonde! I love this movie, and I always thought it would be a really cute musical. Looking forward to it so much!
In order:
Young Frankenstein
The First Wives Club
The Wedding Singer
Catch Me If You Can
Legally Blonde
The Color Purple
and at the very bottom, although not mentioned, I feel compelled to say Lord of the Rings
Oh yes. Most definitely Lord of the Rings. hehe. Especially if Jay T. Schramek is cast in it. :o)
4-6 i love those movies
The Producers and Rent.
The Producers has already happened sweetie
I think you misread the question

Is anyone up for casting in any of these yet? How many time has Cheno been named for Elle Woods?

Kristin Chenoweth will NOT be in Legally Blonde, even though everyone thinks she will be perfect, because Glinda in Wicked is exactly like Elle Woods, its not happening. I was talking to someone who is working on the production and they said its not likely.

I'm not sure.... I may be able to ask... but I don't want to say even if I do ask, because I don't want to start any rumors... But, it also may be too early in the process,
Tie between CATCH ME IF YOU CAN et YOUNG FRANKENSTIEN. Are these all positively in the works or are they ideas being thrown around?
I've always said that Kate Reinders would make an incredible Elle Woods.
I still think Megan Hilty would be good. How bout Angela Gaylor?
Doogie...all of these are in the works.
YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN creators Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan have completed the first act and nine songs for the musical, which is going to be directed by Susan Stroman.
THE COLOR PURPLE already had it's out-of-town tryout and is trying to book a Broadway house (If SWEET CHARITY closes, it has one). It was staged by Gary Griffin featuring a book by Pulitzer Prize-winner Marsha Norman ('night, Mother) based on Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. Music is by pop songwriters Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray.
THE WEDDING SINGER will do it's out-of-town tryout in Seattle, aiming for an April 2006 Broadway opening at a Jujamcyn theatre. The musical will feature lyrics by Chad Beguelin and music by Matt Sklar. Tim Herlihy, who wrote the screenplay for the film, will team with Beguelin to write the musical's book.
THE FIRST WIVES CLUB will be produced by Paul Lambert and Jonas Neilson and will feature a score by Eddie Holland, Lamont Dozier and Brian Holland, the threesome who created hits for Martha and The Vandellas, The Miracles, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops and The Supremes.
CATCH ME IF YOU CAN is also in the works with Marc Shaiman and Scott Whitman composing the score and with Terrence McNally as the book writer.
And LEGALLY BLONDE has signed Jerry Mitchell as it's director/choreographer. It is being written by composer Laurence O'Keefe, lyricist Nell Benjamin and librettist Heather Hach.

First Wives Club = GOLD!
I heard for a while that Cheno was attatched to Young Frankenstein as the Madeline Kahn role
Cheno would be hysterical in that role.
"AHHHHHHHHH, sweet mystery of love at last I found you!!!"

MOVIE MUSICALS ARE THE DUMBING DOWN AND DESTRUCTION OF THEATRE. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. CAN'T SOMEONE COME UP WITH SOMETHING ORIGINAL FOR ONCE. MOVIE MUSCIALS ARE FOR MIDWESTERNERS WHO ARE ISOLATED AND CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT REAL THEATRE IS ABOUT. LETS HAVE SOME MORE ORIGINALITY ON BROADWAY FOR ONCE. GET A CLUE.
YES i HAVE CAPS ON BECAUSE I'M SCREAMING MAD.
my eyes hurt
back on topic though, anyone have any ideas for YF casting?
