I really like the ending to the 2005 revival but I also liked the ending to the recent off-Broadway revival. Which do you think works best?

Sutton's ending would have been MUCH more effective if they didn't turn "Where Am I Going?" into a POP chorus number. WTF was that? It's a gorgeous song and a valid choice for the ending, but why destroy the arrangement? The production had plenty of high points, but the anemic orchestrations really prevented it from being truly special.
Applegate's ending is too cheesy. The original is strange, but I've grown to understand and appreciate it. There really is no perfect ending.

I like the ending for the 2005 revival the best. For me it perfectly summarized Charity's eternal optimism. She bagan the show asking if we ever had one of those days that was perfect? She poses the same question at the end of the show and points out that for her this wasn't it, but there's always tomorrow. It may be cheesy, but to me that's Charity. That's her optimism.

My favorite is the original, which is also the version used for the longest-running and most successful production. It's an eccentric show and needs an odd ending, I think, rather than something serious, sensible, and sentimental.

I always liked the movie ending the best. It's wonderfully bittersweet. I like the last few minutes of the 2005 revival with the reprise of "Bravest Individual", but the girl power monologue she delivers to Oscar right before is pure Julia Sugarbaker cheese. It feels totally out of character for her.
The original ending is darkly hilarious and super weird which I like a good deal.

I like the movie ending, too, which calls back the most to the source material.
My favorite is actually from the new Silverman revival.

Interesting take. I had the opposite response about the heartbreaking aspect - it was the first one that i did not find heartbreaking. I found the Sutton 2016 ending to be the most effective one for me, because it left the audience with the most hope that things were going to turn around for her now that she has noticed the pattern. In the previous endings, it was the opposite - she is very hopeful that better things will happen, while the audience is made to realize that the hope is baseless because she will probably keep repeating her patterns because she doesn't see how she is allowing it, leading to a depressing ending.
