Which shows will close next?

The Producers grossed $900,000 last week with 95% attendance. What are you basing your belief that it'll close on? It's not going anywhere for a couple of years.
I'd give Wicked another 7+ years, and Lion King at least another 5 years.
Ring of Fire is very likely the next show to close -- it's lost money every week it's been open and things don't look to be improving soon.
As for shows coming in for the summer and fall -- there's nothing currently slated to open this summer by the way -- several current shows are limited runs anyway and are scheduled to close by the end of summer. Not to mention, every year several shows close right after the Tonys in June after they leave the awards empty handed. Trust me, there will be PLENTY of theatres open come fall -- about a dozen will very likely change hands by October.

That reminds me -- The Caine Mutiny is listed as an open-ended run, but A Chorus Line is taking over its theatre in the fall. Which one will have to move if The Caine Mutiny lasts that long?

Caine Mutiny is advertised as limited.

Ah, my mistake. Playbill is listing it as open-ended.

I believe The Caine Mutiny is a limited engagement running through the end of August. I imagine that some of its high profile cast members have other commitments and couldn't extend beyond that date (though ACL would be better off waiting for a larger theatre anyway).

"Lestat". It was horrible in SF and only a miracle would save this disaster.

I would say definitely RING OF FIRE, followed by BAREFOOT IN THE PARK.

No kidding. That's gotta be the most uncomfortable theatre for long-legged folks. I thought I was going to get DVT during Long Day's Journey Into Night.

WHOAH Margo, how can you say Wicked will be going next? There are so many fans for the show, it will be going on for more than 7 years I believe. Just like RENT has been going on for a long time, thanks to the RENTHEADS.
But Ring of Fire will be the next to close.

that's exactly what he said. he didn't say it was going next, or anywhere.

For sure LESTAT will not last past the TONY's.

Lestat all depends on what they changed. I have been watching the Lestat vides on Broadway.com and it seems like they have changed alot!
(Martha Graham from a letter to Agnes de Mille) "There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening That is translated through you into action, And because there is only one of you in all time, This expression is unique. If you block it, It will never exist through any other medium And be lost. The world will never have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, Nor how valuable it is, Nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, To keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware Directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, A blessed unrest that keeps us marching And makes us more alive than others."

Ring of Fire needs to be put out of our misery. It's a horrible show and should close asap.

Are we forgeting Well?
"Have they come yet?"

The only reason I didn't say WELL is because it hasn't opened yet. Attendance has been extremely poor, but with good reviews (which apparantly it's gotten before), it won't close that soon.
Personally, I hated the show - but it seems that others do not.

I don't like these threads that speculate on what shows will or won't close. I realize some people want to make room for new shows so they have a chance to audition for those shows, but do you also want to put a lot of fine actors & musicians out of work?

uhhhhhh, you're right. For the sake of employing actors, musicians, and stage managers -- turning profits for producers -- and keeping the Wicked alley full of tweens, we should stop threads like this. In fact, let's go all the way and petition the Times and all other media outlets to stop publishing bad reviews. They are very harmful.
That said, I hope Barefoot closes on the same day as Ring of Fire. I wasted good time sitting through these pieces of turd.

Ring of Fire and Well.
Barefoot will play-out its engagement (it's playing through July 23). However, it's pilot season and Amanda Peet has a confirmed deal. She may take a leave of absence which would likely close the show quicker than planned.

Well, the thing about actors and musicians being out of work, while that's unfortunate, as soon as they depart, another large group of actors and musicians are then able to go into that theatre and have their chance to shine. And if it's a really good show replacing a really mediocre one then, IMO it's a good thing for Broadway and everyone who works for it and pays money to go and see it for the bad show to close. Sorry folks have to go on unemployment, but that's the business, dems the breaks and maybe the next show they get will be better and run for years.

Glinda2– While I understand that it seems in somewhat poor taste to speculate like this, I appreciate it. There are lots of shows that I'd like to see for various reasons, but I can't do everything at once. Therefore it's nice to know what to prioritize.
