This is great news! I just saw on Playbill.com that this show was such a great hit that it WILL be produced next year as well! I saw it four times in SF and can't wait to see it again.

Do not miss this show if it comes to your town. This show will prove to all those naysayers that Broadway is not "dying" at all. You haven't seen dancing and tap numbers like this since Fred and Ginger were putting on a show. I only hope they can get Patterson and Denman on board again!

How would they do this on Broadway? The show is SO seasonal it seems like it wouldn't really work past the christmas season -- and it doesnt seem financially feasible to do a strictly limited engagement -- or even make it an annual thing. I'm confused by their "New York Plans"

It is but it isn't. The biggest argument I have with many of my friends is that several of them don't think of it as a Christmas movie. It's just a movie that happens to have Christmas at the end in their opinion. I have to agree that White Christmas is not a traditional Christmas movie and I actually watch it year round, but to say it isn't a Christmas movie gets my goat. The closest I'll come to agreeing with them is that it is a hybrid show.

I saw it. Nice leading 4/ensamble women. (the ensamble guys were terrible) Nice sets, boring long scenes. My grade: C-

PS: there was some very unprofessional actors tapping onstage behind the curtain before the show AND during intermission. I was loud and obnoxious.

You will want to see the musical in July, trust me. They took the basic plot of White Christmas, then juiced up the show with fantasic Irving Berlin numbers. The I love and Piano and Blue Skies numbers were the best and the tap dancing in the former was so good people were applauding the number halfway through it! You haven't seen such a concentration of wonderful dancing efforts like this in years.

There's a great website for the show that has photos and video interviews with the director and choreographer. Check it out.

I kept saying to my friends that I'd see this in July and they agreed. People in the lobby during intermission couldn't believe the show would only be there until Jan 2!

I too was distracted by the tapping warm up noises behind the curtain. I kept referring to it as "horses at the gate"!!

But, C-????

Well, I hadnt seen the movie. My friend who I saw it with (who is usualy much more critical of things than I) liked it and had seen the movie. Maybe that has somthing to do with it. I thought the plot was thin and boring. Scenes dragged. Was that little girl speaking spanish?

WOW so the tapping wasnt a one night thing! Who is their stage manager. GEE WHIZ! (ALSO the night I saw it (closing) before the show, during the tapping behind the curtain, I heard an ensamble guy yell "OH MY LEG!...must explain why there was a big hole in 1 of the dance numbers) Updated On: 1/20/05 at 12:40 AM

I saw it opening night, 2 more times, and then one night before closing. I heard the "horses at the gate" noise each time and kept thinking, are they testing the tap mikes or are the dancers inexperienced and having to warm up each time?

I saw the movie and HATE THE MOVIE....I had reservations about this being turned into a broadway show and was very happy with the results. I liked that Walter Bobbie trimmed a lot of unnecessary stuff and streamlined the story. And I thought the dance numbers made up for any long scenes that dragged...aka...any involving the army general!!
