Sonheim, Tesori, Bernstein, Jason Robert Brown...off the top of my head
Sondheim towers above the others for me... but also on the list, I'd have to add -
Porter
William Finn
Jason Robert Brown
Menken
Flaherty
Gershwin

Hmm, am I the first to add Frank Loesser in here? Not only for "Guys and Dolls," but a few years ago I saw "The Most Happy Fella" for the first time. I went in knowing fairly little about it, and was surprised how much I enjoyed it.
If I only get one, though, I think I almost have to go with Richard Rodgers; I have a CD of R&H overtures, and the wealth of beautiful melodies, even from the lesser-known scores, is overwhelming.

Cy Coleman is first on the list.
From Sweet Charity to City of Angels to Will Rogers Follies to The Life, and all the shows and jazz hits in between...The best was always yet to come!
He was always partnered with incredible lyricists as well...

Hey Everyone..... come out to see Ricky Ian Gordon on Monday May 30th at 9pm at OPIA. Ricky is one of my favorite composers, and he's agreed to do this show for our company.
Visit www.lonelysky.org for more info about the show.
Michael Arden is just one of many performing in the show, and it's going to be great.
The concert is a benefit for Lonely Sky Theatre Company, a new theatre dedicated to producing contempoary musical theatre. This is a worthwhile cause, I think, and a show worth seeing.
Hope to see lots of you there. And please come up and say hello. I'll introduce you to Ricky, and I'd be happy to talk to you more about what we're doing with musical theatre!!!!
Leonard Bernstein--genius!
Flaherty, Larson, JRB, and Sondheim.

well Sondheim is a given. I mean come on. But out of the new guys, the ones I admire most are Michael John LaChiusa. I wish I could get my hands on more of his music. I LOOOOOVE his stuff. I'd work for free to do one of his shows. In a close second comes Adam Guettel. He got much closer with Piazza. He's breathtaking. I envy freakin Audra McDonald so much!
Puccini
Bernstein
Sondheim
Webber (earlier to mid)
Harold Arlen, whose centennial this year is already yesterdays news

Hands Down Sondheim Ever since Company Jane Russell was in it WOW telling my age now
Well, I know i'm not being very original.... But Stephen Sondheim has GOT to be number 1. He is a genius.
I also enjoy Jule Styne, Leonard Bernstein, Kander & Ebb and Richard Rodgers' work very much.
Stephen Schwartz definetly... Tim Rice? I guess he doesn't compose but that would be cool too
First Stephen Schwartz
After: Jason Robert Brown, Craig Carnelia and Alan Menken.
From the past: Cole Porter
