it also helps now that i'm living here. yes, you need to factor in rent. but i'm also working full time. and not covering hotel / transportation costs, so there's less money for me to lay down all at once. and i'm more than willing to sit in the cheapest seat the theater has for something i enjoy.

I think that's one of those things that's not really...there...it's just....in your head.

In my head."
A shooting star...in purple ink...this relates to Orfeh...how?
ETA:
"Explanation: this girl has Orfeh's original script from Trailer Park and the star was drawn in the margins."
Um, really? Because it looks like it was copied off the design of the shirt she's WEARING in the picture?

I have seen loads of shows, many more than once and usually use TKTS for half price tickets, day seats, student prices or Buy one get one free offers. It is an expensive hobby but it is my hobby, I don't drink or smoke which would cost a lot.

I've also worked for companies that offer discounted or free tickets. Or, of course, most of the time, I just earn the money and pay for guaranteed full-price tickets because I also enjoy my life! I could buy expensive clothes or go to a Broadway show. I prefer the Broadway show and buy clothes on sale or non-brand name. Cotton is cotton . . . why pay for a name?!

I don't live with my parents and I get very little support from them. I am a college student who comes in on her breaks and see theatre and I do it via student rush and discount codes...one can be very resourceful when passionate about something.
Sometimes, I am willing to compromise other luxuries to pay for theatre. IF I have to eat McDonald's and not sit in down in a restaurant so I can see Xanadu on stage or something, I think that's a fair trade :-P

Oh, and discount codes. Those were invaluable for me with The Vertical Hour as there was no lottery or rush for that show (though I still shelled out a lot of money) ~ but it hit a nerve and touched me, so it was worth it.
Like others on here, that's mostly what I do with my free time ~ I go to shows. So it's not like I'm out to dinner every night and whatnot. I'm a full-time grad student AND full-time special ed teacher, so... But theatre is my stress reliever, so it's worth it.
(And yes, I do live alone. In Bed Stuy.)
LIVE THAT LESSON!!!!!!

but hey... there's nothing wrong with seeing a show that much ! it helps the industry- go for it... as long as you are not hurting anyone... I just dont think I can do it.
