Who could replace Ben Platt in

Hi… Through a very lucky connection I was able to see "Dear Evan Hansen" April 12th. Incredible seats… Katie Holmes was sitting behind us! I was fortunate to grow up in New York City.... Have seen a lot of shows both musicals and straight plays over the years...including Angela Lansbury's "Gypsy" back in the day…but I have never ever in my life seen such an epic performance like Ben Platt is giving. Absolutely completely blew me away. Jaw dropping....especially at the end where he is hitting notes and crying all at the same time. Talk about leaving it all on the stage…As I've been saying to people "I don't think Meryl Streep herself could've pulled that off like he did!" Unlike "Hamilton" where the show is the star and has remained successful and quite good with other people playing major roles… You need somebody with really strong acting chops besides a voice to pull that performance off and make the show work. And dare I say "charisma." Who do the producers pull in when he's finally completely exhausted and gives the show up? Or even for the eventual touring companies? I would no longer consider myself an expert on the current crop of young actors available… So I defer to all of you. Open casting calls and hopefully find the next wunderkind? Or is there an obvious choice out there?

PS...I hope the producers are smart enough to film this original cast like they did for "Hamilton"… His performance deserves to be preserved and not just by the bootlegged pieces that have shown up on YouTube.

It's very difficult to see how they could replace him, but they managed to replace Alice Ripley in n2n successfully (at least in my eyes) so perhaps we will see. I'm also thinking that to be honest his somewhat over the top theatrics (and I mean this affectionately because it is one of the best performances I have ever seen) are probably not necessary for the show to succeed.

Give me claws and a hunch, just away from this bunch.

Thanks Michelle! Shine it On!

I think Platt owes much of his singing technique to Buckley.
