anyone else think that augustine73 for Rent looks more like an ad for a gay bar then a "bohemian" ground-breaking musical?
( no offense to you augustine73)

Carol Channing as Elphaba
and
Elaine Strech as Glinda

If you're going the pop route, let Alanis do it. She'd be great. But she has to get rid of that hideous blonde hair and get back to the angry Alanis we all know and love.

Alanis went BLONDE?

Yeah, I saw her on channel 4 the other night singing with blonde hair, wearing a dress and high heels. I did a Urinetown "WHAAAAAA???"

AAAAHHHHH!

(Although I will say Alanis is about the only casting choice that may get me back to Wicked. Her or Elaine Stritch.)

Stritch can be Dr. Dillamond. She could totally pull of the "Something baaaaaaaaaaaad" part.

And I completely agree with you on the RENT avatar, BwayBaby. It looks pretty cheesy. Reiterating no offense to augustine73.

Maybe the new Blondelanis can play *shudder* Galinda.

I love Stritch as Dilamond, I would watch that.

But how could they expand Dillamond's part? Because we know Stritch wouldn't do it on "Something Bad" alone. Hmmmm...

And seriously, Alanis blonde? No! Come back to the brunettes, Alanis! We love you!

Christina Aguilera can't sing to save her life. Now, SHE'S a screamer. To say nothing of the fact that every time I've seen her perform "live" on TV, all of the higher notes are always LEFT OUT of the performance. I'm not talking once or twice, but EVERY TIME. That song "beautiful" had a huge belt section in the bridge, and she always did some lame ass, riff thing instead. Gross...I don't know why we constantly have to "cast" this show on this board. However, if I'm going to throw a name into the pot, it would be Paula Cole. She has the look and a vocal range that surpass' that of Eden and Shoshana...anamazing singer/songwriter, who I'm sure could act the role better than some of the ladies that have tried...

Lets cast Natalie Merchant and the Indigo Girls and make it an all Lilith Fair WICKED extravaganza.

Well, poor little Fantasia didn't get Dreamgirls. Maybe she could put on a weave and step on the cherry picker. She'd have a difficult time doing those squats to hit the high notes AND stay on the platform. Diana could be Glinda. She and Diana DeGarmo could do an AI singoff instead of "what is this feeling."

Here they are then, the all LILITH FAIR WICKED ensemble:

Elphaba- Paula Cole (Alternating with Natalie Merchant)
Glinda- BlondAlanis (Alternating with Jewel)
Fyerro- Meredith Brooks
Morrible- the Indigo Girls (Emily Saliers and Amy Ray)
Boq- Lisa Loeb
Nessa- Sarah McLachlan
Dillamond- Stritchie (I just really want her in the show.)

and

the Wizard- Stevie Nicks

I was really excited, the funny thing is that cast is honestly one I would pay a lot of money to see. I mean lots.

Can't you just imagine Stevie's Wizard?

John Goodman would make a fantastic Elphaba. Can you imagine the gasps when he defies gravity? And Hilary Duff as Glinda to appeal to the younger demographic. Either that, or prop up Selma Diamond's corpse a la "Weekend at Bernie's."

Speaking of which, Andrew McCarthy as what's-his-face. The scarecrow guy. And one of the Kris Kross kids as Boq.

And Ben Stein as the wizard. Edie McClurg as Morrible.

Voila. This is the definitive answer. There will never be any reason to ask this question again. Just link back to this post. Have a lovely day.

How about Harvey as Glinda? Can you imagine the awe when he floats in on that bubble at the beginning? Maybe Rosie could be Elphaba and they could change the name of the song to "Defying Tonality"!

"I think Alice should be Glinda and Ems as Elphie"

BwayBaby18, I guess that could work - I respect your opinion but think about it. Al has the more rocker chick voice, look at the stuff she puts out with her band, and Ems is definitely the cuter of the duo. But just so long as those girls get back together on stage I'll be all good no matter what it is.
