Brian D'arcy James/Gavin Creel and Chris Sieber
I would be thrilled if either Sieber or Kudisch take the Featured Award.
I won't belabor the point, as I have shared my thoughts in another thread, but I do NOT think the boys should win for Billy Elliot, and I disagree wholeheartedly with the nominating committee for choosing to include them (as a unit) in the category.
By-the-by, I also took issue when the jointly nominated Alice & Emily for Side Show. Clearly the women gave brilliant, staggeringly different, individual performances and should have been nominated separately.

I don't think it will happen, but I would like to see David Bologna win for BE. It would be nice to see a kid win for what is really a landmark (young) gay role in theatre.

"I also have to show a little love for Greg Jbara. His extremely layered and subtle performance may be overlooked by some as not showy enough, but I found it to be incredibly moving. I suppose if Greg doesn't win I would go with Will Swenson, as he was the heart of Hair for me, but still not giving quite the performance Greg is. "
While I agree about what you said about Jbara something is telling me he could get it. He won the Drama Desk (possibly because Swenson wasn't in that category). But still he won that and he his in the the Biggest Hit of The Year. If Billy Elliot Sweeps they could easily pick up both Featured Actor and Actress. I do think that it seems the more deserving in those respected categories would be Swenson/Sieber but Jbara is a hardworking veteran who has done great but underated work for years. I think it is toss up between Swenson and Sieber but my gut is telling me that Billy could easily scoop up Best Actor, Best Featured Actor, and Best Featured Actress. This would make for a Very Boring Tony Awards.

this would make the Tony Awards very exciting in my mind...to have the deserving actors win in their respective categories.
it was heavily predicted last year that Benanti, Gaines and LuPone would win, but it was still thrilling when all three of their names were called.
Gavin and Will hopefully
I enjoyed Jbara and thought he was serviceable in his role, but I do feel that Bologna gave a more memorable performance than him. Bologna brought the house down completely with "Expressing Yourself." And the image of his standing onstage alone at the end of the show sticks out in my mind as one of the most brilliant stage pictures in that show (and my Lord, are there a billion!) I'd be rather upset if Jbara took home a Tony for that performance. He has more to offer.
Sieber and Swenson are both terrific. Sieber gives the standout comedic performance in his show, and Swenson gives one of the two standout performances in his show. That might have some effect.
This really is a toss up. I'm trying to think like a Tony-voter. I am almost positive the Billys have it, so I feel like many voters will want to award another actor from another show in the featured category, leaving Swenson, Sieber, and Kudisch. Then, there's the possibility of SHREK not winning anything, which seems likely. Voters might give Sieber the sympathy vote. Or they might vote an all BILLY ticket, which means most likely Jbara has it.
Both supporting races are EXTREMELY exciting this year. I hope that all four musical acting winners are from four different shows. I'd love to see Bologna take it, but I'd say Sieber is my choice.
Ripley
Billys
Olivo
Sieber
I'd love that.
For Best Actor, no Billys, please.
I think they have great talent as dancers.
However, as actors, they are premature, I believe.

The part about the most deserving can be argued but I hope they don't just give them the awards because they have fallen head over heals for Billy Elliot. I don't want them to say "Oh Tough Category, oh Billy Elliot is so amazing lets give Featured Actor to them". This is a very unrealistic wish since the Tony Awards do tend to fall head over heals for shows. If Will Swenson is doing monumental work over Jbara who is giving a great performance in a Monumental show then give it to Swenson. In this category there are some who almost got unanimous raves (Swenson) some who got very positive reviews (Sieber) and some who got mixed reviews (Jbara, Kudisch) and some who are just a surprise nominee (Bologna). While I did say Jbara could win whether it is on his performance merits or the merits of his show is where I feel iffy.
Also Gypsy last year was by far an acting master class. They got Unanimous raves. The reason no one was complaining then was because it was clearly on the merits of their performance.
in my opinion, the performances of all three billys, hadyn gwyne and greg jbara were all superb. i guess the winners will depend on the opinions of the tony voters though...we'll know the results in three weeks.
I felt like the second act of BILLY drug because of some of the odd acting choices made by Jbara- soo many long, drawn out pauses, sometimes for dramatic effect and sometimes for comedic effect.

I'm pulling for Creel or James to win Best Actor, but I have a feeling the Billys will win.
As for featured actor, I think Seiber will win (deservedly so). However, I would not be crushed if Swenson took it. If it's going to be a boring Billy sweep, Jbara might end up with the title.
I truly believe that J. Robert Spencer deserves the award for lead actor in a musical. No one seems to be thinking of him but I think he is incredibly deserving.
I hope and pray that Will Swenson wins for featured actor in a muscial.
Bobby Spencer is giving quite the performance in N2N. He has grown tremendously in the role but he's not giving the best leading male performance in a musical this year. Not to say he isn't wonderful, he is. I just don't think he's giving a Tony-worthy performance...but regardless, the Billys will ride the inevitable BILLY wave of awards and win.
If anyone loses to the Billys, I think it'll be D'Arcy James. But it will be the Billys.
Should win: Gavin Creel, and Will Swenson
WIll win: Billy Boys, and Will Swenson/Chris Sieber

i would personally like to see Brian D'Arcy James and Christopher Sieber win.
James i think really un-covered all the layers that make up Shrek. You really saw how the character developed from the very begining and the very begining to the very end. His singing voice is phenomenal. Wearing that make up and costume every night is no easy task And Im glad to see he has been winning the awards lately!
Sieber: AMAZING!!! I mean just flat out hysterical. He IS that character. You really loved to hate Farquad. And doing the role on his kness was genius.
HOWEVER: The B.E Boys will win. No offense, but what are they 10? They dont need a Tony yet! All 3 of them will more than likely have amazing careers once they grow out of the role.
if Jbra wins, I'd be ok. I saw him in Scoundrels and I am a fan.
I guess, Billy Eliot is the show of shows this year...
I just hope it wins for the categoires it deserves to win for. Like when "Spring Awakening" won the choreography Tony while the kids were just jumping around on stage and Mary Poppins had people doing tap, and walking on the ceiling??
i'd love to see gavin and will win.
