Who do you think will win Best Actor and Best Featured Actor in a Musical?

For the women's categories, there seem to be definate favorites...what about the men?

There are one set of answers as to who I WANT and think SHOULD win:
Gavin Creel &
Will Swenson

And who I think WILL win:
The BE boys.
Chris Sieber (this wouldn't bother me in the slightest.)
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

The Billy Boys - no doubt.

And I think the featured will be harder. They are all good performances, but they tend to give the Featured award to the more comedic performance, no? So maybe Sieber? He does turn in a hilarious performance.

The Billy boys, as much as I will be rooting for anyone else to win the award (out of principle) are going to win Best Actor.

Will Swenson should, and probably will, win Best Featured Actor, though a win by Sieber would not be unexpected or surprising. As long as it isn't Greg Jbara (one of the most overrated performances I've ever seen- nearly three hours of shouting).

I agree ^ I would be happy for ANYONE other than the Billys to get the award.

This is not meant to be snarky, but the only thing the boys do REALLY well is dance -- and they do that beautifully. The rest is simply manipulation. And I truly think that if it does happen, they end up rewarding the ROLE not the actor.

What are others thought on the Billys?

Dramamama, I agree with you. The three boys are all fantastic dancers, passable singers, and fairly bad actors. Plus, there's the whole thing about the voters only seeing one of the three of them. And you'd be awarding someone a Tony for something they do 2-3 times a week. They really should have just given them a special Tony award. I'd have been perfectly happy with that.

Sieber is playing a cartoon character. Swenson is playing an iconic human character with perfection in the most raved about revival of the season. Swenson has it in the bag.

If I were voting for Leading, I'd choose Creel, but sadly I think those Billys are going to win.

i agree with WBAF. i liked Seiber but anyone can be funny on thier knee's in that costume. swenson really looks like he lets the charactar take him over for 2 and a half hours a day. and i know it's for a featured role, but swenson does so much more than seiber does in shrek. swenson definitely deserves it. i agree about it awarding the cast as well.

The Billys, in my mind, are fantastic dancers and actors and fine singers. They're going through puberty so I give them a bit of a break on the singing (plus they're KIDS playing an extremely demanding role). They deserve the award although Creel would not be a dissapointment if he upsets, which he won't. But still.

And yes, I think Swenson will be awarded for the exact reason little_sally mentioned. To award, in some way, the entire cast of HAIR. He's excellent in the role and deserves the award as well.
