Pirate Queen has the Hilton after the Grinch finishes its limited run.
And I've heard that Legally Blonde may opt for another theatre that might be open in early '07.

The Hilton would not be perfect for THE PAJAMA GAME. It would be one of the absolute worst theatres to put THE PAJAMA GAME into.
Since THE PAJAMA GAME has scrapped Broadway plans, it doesn't matter anyway - but The Hilton, along with the Gershwin, Winter Garden, and Palace - are just too big. The St. James is probably also too big.
They they wanted to transfer TPG serious, it would do better in something like The Barrymore, The Cort, The Broadhurst, Jacobs, Schoenfeld, or something of that nature.

Perhaps several months ago. Once again, The Pirate Queen has the Hilton for the spring, and will be announcing it soon.

I believe that it WAS a financial failure in London, despite it's awards and rave reviews.
I might be wrong, but I have heard that the original producers have scrapped the idea.

JERRY SPRINGER was an enormous failure. It barely ran a year and closed at a loss of millions of dollars. Its failure in the UK left US producers uninterested in bringing it over here.
The last that was heard of the production was that it was going to skip the 2004-2005 San Francisco season and opt to open on Broadway in 2006. Well, no other word has been heard about it and I doubt it is going to open by the end of this year.
Do not plan on seeing this show in the US anytime soon.

Not without Harry Connick, Jr. As much as I love Kelli O'Hara and the rest of the cast, the show sold out because of Connick. It wouldn't have NEARLY the popularity without the kind of star power like Connick. I guess if they found anyone with star quality for either role, it could possibly work. But the show itself won't sell.

It's one thing to sell out the 750-seat American Airlines Theatre, in a limited non-profit run with the cushion of the Roundabout Theatre Company huge subscriber base.
Having to start from scratch in a commercial run in a theatre more than twice the size (the Hilton has 1,800 seats) would be financial suicide. Not to mention that The Pajama Game would look and sound puny in the Hilton.

The Hilton is a cavernous barn of a theatre. It seats approximately 1850. The American Airlines Theatre where THE PAJAMA GAME played only seated about 750. The show would flop horribly in a theatre such as the Hilton.
The sold-out run was in part of the limited nature of its run to begin with. The great reviews, Connick's marquee value, and the limited run made people want to catch the show before it ended.
If it does re-open on Broadway, it is going to need to be in a small theatre, especially since it will not have Connick or O'Hara attached to the project.
