The role is definitely cast. I was told the role went to "no one you know" lol so that could definitely be an unknown. Hope your friend is indeed the choice -- Go Texans!

P.S. I love Jennifer Hope Willis, but I honestly think she looks too old to convincingly play Clara.

Whimsical: I don't think anybody's really treating you in any specific way. What yous ay could absolutely be true, but those of us who aren't from your university in Texas have heard this, so when an official announcement reaches our ears, I think everyone will be much more receptive to the idea.

Thank you, dancing. I completely understand that and would want to wait for an official announcement myself. This situation is odd. But some people are just being rude about the whole thing.

Ah well. Thanks to those who posted positively. I'm incredibly happy for her!

Yes, I have inside sources- This role is DEFINITELY cast- and the woman taking over is a new face to Broadway. Whimsical is NOT lying- I would be surprised if anyone has ever heard of her....but she is going to be the talk of the town. !!

I can't wait to see how she fills the role!!!! Anyhow, Whimsical, email me cause I want to tell you something that I think you'll find rather cool!!!

i can't believe Jennifer Wills didn't get the role...but i guess it's good for my pocket...because probably i won't go back to see Piazza many times to see her.

can you confirm that it is Katie Clarke who is the new Clara, or is it just a broadway unknown. Also, is it this girl's broadway debut or just her first high profile job on broadway?

I'm glad this has been confirmed so the bickering can stop. I'll be anxious to see how she does and how the die-hards accept her "Clara." She must have really impressed the creative team.

I'm interested to see her, but I know that Kelli is irreplaceable. I will miss her a lot as Clara.

Well, best of luck to her... the only reason I doubted it was cause it seemed like this was just PLUCKED out of obscurity. That said, I'm sure she will be phenomenal, because if they went on a huge search and came back with an unknown, you can bet she'll be great.

haha this is so random. I saw her in Anything Goes with Jen Cody, Dee Hoty, and Matt Cavenaugh at TUTS less than a year ago. She was just in the ensemble and now she is starring on Broadway! That is really awsome!

You guys are going to be blown away. Whimsical - I love you - where have you been? Do you open Sweet Charity this week? Break a leg.

I used to play the piano for Katie way back in the day. Oh, wait, I used to live with her at SHSU. Good times. She is beyond amazing. I believe the audition went something like this:
Lincoln Center called her. She sang. They stopped the audition and offered her the part. That's my girl. And my wife...if I was straight.

She is perfect. And everyone better watch out!

whimsical or chazzdotcom--i was just curious, how did katie get seen for the audition? was she submitted by an agent? i just thought it pretty unusual for a young non-equity (maybe?) college actress to be seen for such a high profile show. but im super happy for her and wish more producers would take risks these days. thanks and hope the questions not too prying--just wondering:)
