Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?...or at least the play?

Many years ago, I was honored to see a production in Los Angeles (directed by Edward Albee himself) starring Glenda Jackson, John Lithgow, Brian Kerwin and Cynthia Nixon!

It was a dynamite cast and left an everlasting impression on me, for sure.

I agree that seeing a good production of this would be far more beneficial than just reading it. I'm sure after seeing the play, reading it would make a lot more sense.

WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF is my favorite play. It is certainly regarded as one of the best plays of all time, but that's not why I love it.

It fascinates me to the core. It's a play that no matter how many times I've read it, watched the film, or seen it on stage, still forces me to question its meaning, and allows me to revel in its complexity.

Truly challenging theatre is a rare commodity. While I cannot guaranty that you will like VIRGINIA WOOLF, I suspect that it will be a powerful experience for you.

I fear Kathleen Turner in the role. I guess we have to trust Albee but she is such a wild card. I saw her in "Cat on a hot tin roof" and, well she borders between moments of clarity and greatness and just parody.

So my dear you think you can get to Broadway. Well, let me tell you something. Broadway has no room for people like you. Not the Broadway I know. My Broadway takes people like you and eats them up and spits them out. My Broadway is the Broadway of Merman, and Martin, and Fontaine, and if you think you can build yourself up by knocking other people down... ...GOOD LUCK... Seinfeld

There's also that persistant rumor that George and Martha are actually a gay couple, but he couldn't actually write it that way at that time.

Hello again, I finished reading the play a few months ago. It is veyr draining, much like the Iceman Cometh. It more had an impact on me AFTER i read it. It was more of a thought porvoking play, and I found myself enjoying when I looked back on the scenes in the play and really understood what they were about. It is truly a remarkable play, and I love it now.

Doesn't "gay" mean "happy or merry"? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Dolly, it does...
However, George and Martha are anything but happy.
So I don't know what he means by that...
One (or both) of them are homosexual, and they got married anyway?
FILL ME IN, JIM.
