If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Adding music wouldn't make the play any better, especially since the play is already perfect!

I agree with The Distinctive Baritone. Let's leave a masterpiece a masterpiece.

1. Put On A Happy Face
2. The Drinking Song
3. An English Teacher

I couldn't wait for the "Hump the Hostess" waltz...

I always thought that "Could I Leave You" from FOLLIES was a brilliant musical portrait of a WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF-type marriage.

I ask in all honesty/What would life be?/Without a song and a dance, what are we?/So I say "Thank you for the music/For giving it to me."

And of course the title for this ridiculous exercise is...

CALL ME MARTHA.

I agree, it needn't be done...but IF it HAD to be done, Sondheim is the only one I think could do it.

i think i would be scared to see how this turns out.

in Boston they have a stage adaptation of this show called "Who's Afraid of the Virgin Mary". that one is actually really fun. Joseph & Mary are throwing a cocktail party in the manger for their secular friends Kris Kringle & his wife. :)

it's not a musical though...

If you think Albee would ever permit that, you must be dreaming.

i think Albee's play "The Play About The Baby" would work as a musical. but mostly because the play itself wasn't very meaty. the songs could help to flesh a lot of it out.
