I'm going to the matinee Saturday. Been listening to the revival from the mid nineties in anticipation.

Going Saturday night. Premium orchestra seats AND invited backstage after the performance. It doesn't get any better than this! It will be one of those "only in New York" nights.

Going Friday night. Very excited.
Orchestra seats.
(Not as good as the ones I had for Ted/Kelli/Nathan, but those were ridiculously fabulous!)
I'll applaud for you, Em.
And, no, there won't be any 'links' from me, Jordan.

Quick report (more tomorrow):
Sat in Orchestra HH. Packed out, big haired lady in front of me.
Overall, I loved it! It's one of my favorite pieces of American Theatre, and Neil Patrick Harris has been an idol of mine for years. His Bobby is pure, curious and playful. He really brings a quality to the role that makes him a friend (its easy to see why and how his friends are concerned with him still being a bachelor). His charisma was remarkable, and made the audience fall in love and understand his Bobby.
Patti LuPone was perfection! An absolute delight as Joanne, and Ladies Who Lunch blew the roof of off AFH (in my opinion).
The final 20 minutes of monologues, Ladies Who Lunch, dialogue and Being Alive made this concert worth while.
The rest were fine. Katie Finneran flubbed (I believe) on a number of occasions.
Tick Tock was a delight.
The staging was simple and coherent (sometimes concerts are messy).
More tomorrow! I loved it, and am very glad I saw it. Also, Aaron Lazar needed to be in it more, because he has the best male voice in the cast by far!

Going tomorrow, but on my way back home from the Met tonight, I bumped into an adorable gay couple on the subway who said Patti was divine but NPH was no Raul. They also enjoyed Finneran.

NPH was good but yeah no Raul. He spoke a lot of Being Alive which was interesting. Loved Patti. Too tired to write any more.

How was Anika Noni Rose?
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Was Patti's big scene intense?

I'm gonna disagree about Anika Noni Rose. I was underwhelmed by her Another Hundred People. To me, Katie Finneran definitely stole the show with her Not Getting Married Today. Also, Side By Side By Side was a highlight.
There were definitely no answering machine messages unfortunately

I loved Katie's book scenes but I wasn't wowed by her "Getting Married Today"--I think it's because her pacing was a bit off.

Ugh, bummer about the answering machine.

I never liked the answering machine messages so am glad they left those out.
I'm sure everything will only improve by the weekend. Seeing it tomorrow and can't wait

I had a wonderful time tonight; yes there were some flubs here and there, but I'm sure it'll just get stronger over the next three performances.
I personally LOVED NPH's Being Alive. He acted the crap out of it, imo. I didn't really notice that he spoke part of it...starting off he didn't really hold out the notes as much as later on, but it's more than speak-singing. (If this makes no sense, I am SO tired right now, so apologies)
Another standout for me that hasn't been mentioned was Chryssie Whitehead's park scene- I normally don't really care about Kathy, but she was heartbreaking in the scene.
One thing that was annoying was that the sound mix was pretty off up in the top tier. Had trouble hearing sometimes, hopefully that'll be fixed, if it can be.
Seeing it again on Saturday from the orchestra, so excited.
