However, I also tend to favor Marin Mazzie, Rebecca Luker, Carolee Carmello, and Victoria Clark.

After seeing "Dessa Rose", my new favorite Broadway Dame is by far Rachel York. Although I'd seen her in "Victor/Victoria" and "Scarlet Pimpernel", her performance this season in DR impressed me more than any of the "best actress in a musical" Tony nominees. It was a shame the production upstairs at the Mitzi E. Newhouse was considered a legit Broadway tuner and the one playing downstairs was not thus making her ineligible for a nomination. I saw ALL the Tony nominees this year and admired Ms. York's performance the most. I am now a fan for life.
