When I saw Kristin Chenoweth, I thought about it and finally, I decided that would work too. So, Kelli O'Hara or Kristin Chenoweth. You need a girl who can belt and tap into her soprano. Both of these ladies are experts at just that.

I happen to love Tari Kelly, but I don't think for Ariel. She also just isn't as strikingly gorgeous as Ariel needs to be.

I would love to see Celia play Ariel as if she were the age of Olive, but with the head injury of Clara.

That would be cool.

Forget the strikingly gorgeous stuff, Tari would be perfect. She's got a great voice and the right combination of charm and humor for the part. Come on, if you're going to be dancing on stage in a mermaid costume and singing to a crab and flounder, you've got to have a good sense of humor.

I love Tari Kelly. I even started a love thread about her (post!!!), but I think she would be alot better in another role. She is a little too quirky for Ariel. But then again, she rocked the house in Audrey and was the best ever. So, I can't say no to Tari, but I am defintely not saying yes.

Call me crazy, but I cannot stop picturing Amber Tamblyn in this show! I just think she is phenomenally talented.

well, the other actresses mentioned don't really "look" the part either (this IS a cartoon character we're talking about) but put a red wig on Amber, and BAM! you're in business. And if you watched Joan of Arcadia, you know Amber has an absolutely gorgeous voice.

I'm hoping that some of these suggestions are in jest. It doesn't have to be *exactly* like the movie, I realize, but... Kristin Chenoweth? Idina? Laura Benanti? Do you... have no conception of what Ariel should sound like? Either too mature a soprano or a huge belter would be wrong in either extreme. You also have to keep in mind that they have no real reason to cast a "name." It's the show that's the sell.

I don't think Chenoweth is too much of a soprano or too much of a belter. I think her voice would be perfect.
