no offense, but Celia is too weird looking for Ariel. she has a beautiful voice and a great stage presence but Disney wants to go for Barbie in a fin suit. they aren't going to go for a girl like Celia.

She's already a princess...she just needs to be a Disney princess this time.

I don't know is Laura is reliable enough to do another show. This is not an attack on her... it's just that she doesn't seem to be able to stay healthy. And if she's wearing only a bra and a tail onstage, she might catch a cold or something

A cold has nothing to do with her illness right now.
She's finally taking the time she needs to recover and will be back to her old self (and on stage) in a matter of weeks.

I agree with Folkyboy...I absolutely love Celia, and she is very talented, but she just kind of has a distinct, unique look to her that I don't think would go well with Ariel.
hmm, I am going to ponder my choices for the role for while...

i think Laura Benanti would be great
Kerry Butler
and Celia might be able to do it...but again, she has a very different look... in a good way :)

I know it has nothing to do with her illness now. I'm just saying she doesn't seem to be able to take care of herself in general. But I'm glad she's getting better.

Maybe Kate Reinders? Laura looks too old to play "16".

I could see Kerry Butler. Or Megan Hilty perhaps...

Who said Ariel was 16?
There's no mention of that in the movie, whatsoever.
In fact, Ariel's character and Prince Eric both appear to be, at least, in their early 20s.

I'm liking the Megan idea. That could work.

Wow. How could I forget that line.
Anyway...it doesn't really matter.
Marissa Jaret Winokur played a high schooler when she was 30.
Laura's 27.
