No surprise here - Rachel York is my favorite. Others are (in no particular order, not necessarily B'way, and not necessarily recent) Joanie Mitchell, Jane Olivor, Carole King, Barbra Streisand, Laura Nyro, Judy Collins, Karen Carpenter, Natalie Cole and Bonnie Raitt. I usually listen to the ladies, but my favorite males of all time are Nat King Cole and John Raitt. I guess you can pretty well guess my era by this list!
Ok. i'm very pleased to see some people typing...ADAM PASCAL! His voice is orginal and unique and it always fits the characters he plays!...But as a CANADAIN, i of course have to include JEREMY KUSHNIER! come on people...he's amazing, super talented. I know there are Jeremy Kushnier fans out there on this site!!
Male- Adam Pascal & Jeremy Kushnier Female-Idena Menzel(ENOUGH TALENT FOR MILLIONS)
In no order, and not seperated by genre, these are voices I gravitate toward:
k.d. lang Luciano Pavaroti Patti Page Patsy Cline Karen Carpenter Howard Keel Linda Rondstadt (especially with Nelson Riddle orchestrations.) Barbra Streisand Judy Garland Audra McDonald Brian Stokes Mitchell Etta James Taj Majal
My all time favorite singer would have to be Renee Fleming. I cry evrytime I hear her sing. I was a friggin wreck after she sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" on the Kennedy Center Honors.
"Girl, this cupcake is the jumpoff"- Adriane Lenox
"People have their opinions and that doesn't mean that their opinions are wrong or right. I just take it with a grain of salt because opinions are like as*holes, everyone has one".
