Why has Hair come back to the great white way? I know it's a great show but is this a trend of some sort? I know this may sound ignorant but I'm curious? Why Hair?

I'm confused by your question. You know what exactly is a trend? To revive good musicals?

Also isn't it partly to fill an empty theatre for a short time? That seems to be the case in the past when touring productions have had limited runs on Broadway. (But I admit I don't know the Hair situation)

I just think it's weird that Hair has come back even though it closed last than 2 years ago.

But what is the trend you mentioned?

And it's not weird at all. Shows have been doing this for 70 years.

1. It only closed a year ago. (Yes, that's less than 2, but it's only a few weeks past its closing performance anniversary)

2. This isn't a new production, this is simply the tour making NYC a stop.

3. There was an empty theater.

4. The cast was willing (instead of taking a hiatus).

5. Someone thought they could make some money. (It looks like somebody was wrong.)

Whenever I dress cool,
My parents put up a fight
And if I’m a hotshot,
Mom will cut my HAIR at night
In the morning I’m sure of my identity
I scream Mom and Dad
Why can't I be who I wanna be?

I just wanna be myself,
And I want you to love me for who I am
I just wanna be myself,
And I want you to know, I am my HAIR

I’ve had enough
This is my prayer
That I’ll die living just as free as my HAIR

I’ve had enough
This is my prayer
That I’ll die living just as free as my HAIR

I never really knew tours made broadway stops. I wonder if this engagements constitute a "broadway debut" for first time performers.

If it is their first time on Broadway than yes, it is their Broadway debut.

Gee, I have no idea why this came us as blank....I THINK I wrote something like:

While it has happened, it doesn't happen often.

Several tours have come into Broadway for brief runs. Just none recently. If the producers think it'll sell, why not? Don't go if you don't want to see it. Simple as that.

I saw the tour and Broadway casts. I enjoyed both, but I actually prefer ed the tour cast (slightly).
