I went to look up Andre DeShield's Tony speech today, and all the acceptance speeches and performances (except for the awards that weren't presented live) have been scrubbed from the Tony Awards channel. I've noticed they do this every year a few months after the awards. Anyone know why they do this?

I think it is just in their contract that they only have the right to publish them for X number of days from the awards. Not sure the point of that restriction, though.

Probably to direct you to their CBS All Access, which I believe still offers the Tonys to stream.

CBS owns the telecast so the Tony Awards have the full rights to use any portions of the telecast for their marketing until the rights expire.  They only have the rights for a few months then CBS profits from the iTunes purchases/rentals and wherever else streams the telecast.

This doesn’t deal with the Tony Awards specifically but I think if a show performs on a talk show or something, they specifically can only be on YouTube for a specific amount of time. I was looking for a specific performance from The Prom recently and it was deleted on YouTube everywhere but I went back to the episode or the talk show on Hulu and it was still on there in full.
