Hello! Every year, my sister and I buy my parents Broadway tickets for Christmas and this year we chose "A Chorus Line". We usually get the tickets for mid-May, but tickets are only available for this show until April 20. I searched the boards earlier and found a post that said the show wasn't closing anytime soon, but then towards the end of the post someone mentioned it closing around April 18 but didn't elaborate. I know the show starts touring in early May, so does that mean it will no longer be on Broadway, hence the limited availability of tickets? Hopefully someone out there will have a better body of the inner-workings of Broadway and can help me out. Thanks so much!

Tickets are frequently sold in blocks. They may not have put the next block of tickets on sale yet.
Then, too, the producers may wait to see how A CHORUS LINE fares with the mid-winter slump before they decide on selling more tickets or closing the show.
It was spoken about that they may want to close on a high. The tour opens in Denver in May.

It has very low running costs, so it should still be running after April.
Like someone else said a lot of the time they just place tickets on blocks so they many not have opened the tickets for after april 20th yet!
As mentioned above -- ALL Broadway shows release tickets in blocks. Even shows like WICKED and THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA which do amazing business don't release tickets years or months in advance. They release them in blocks so keep checking every few weeks as you'll see tickets slowly opening up as the weeks progress.
