"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

I liked the music but then again, I am sucker for any musical and I usually already like it going in and then go from there....

"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."

There is a WEDDING SINGER Love Thread buried somewhere on Broadway World, sir. Go find it, and you'll find a lot more people like you.

The reason WEDDING closed is the reason all "season" shows close: because they aren't good enough to sustain public interest for anything longer than a season, barring divine intervention. Granted, WEDDING didn't even last a season, but still...

I like the music. The problem was that the show was an 80's show made for everyone who didn't go through the 80's. If you read the Wedding Singer Reviews thread, you'll find a few comments from people who lived through the 80's, and didn't want to go back. So once the nostalgia audience ran out...

The score was annoying and the movie was better.

Well, I'm a fan of the show but I think that one of the reasons behind its failure was that instead of simply being a musical comedy simply set in the 80s with a few clever 80s pop references sprinkled throughout like they did in the movie(for example, MY favorite joke from the movie, which I knew from the minute I bought the cast recording was not gonna be in the show, is a joke where a guy says, "Hold on, I'm watchin' Dallas. I think JR might be dead or somethin'. They shot 'im."), they decided to hit the audience over the head with them. So every third line, you had jokes about Mr. Belvedere, the Orange Julius, cell phones, insider trading, and then came the final scene of Act 2 where they dragged out as many pop culture icon impersonators as possible.

The characters were more exaggerated, too. For instance, Holly was dumber and trampier, Sammy was more boorish, etc. They were less believable than the movie characters, IMO.

Oh, and a lesson to all writers: you have NO EXCUSE for using the "misunderstanding" trick in writing.

WEDDING SINGER: When Julia comes back to Robbie's place and thinks he's back together with Holly because she's there...

Sorry about that, Actinggbugg. It's those kinds of things you can't really be bothered with remembering. Because THE WEDDING SINGER sucks.

BustopherPhantom: That's in the movie. It's not just that Linda was there, but she was also wearing nothing but Robbie's Van Halen t-shirt.

It closed because the show was a disaster that got mediocre reviews and Tony nominations to fill the category.

It had so much potential...it just didn't know what it wanted to be.

I liked it. I thought the cast was great. The score was enjoyable and the book was funny. But don’t worry, I’m only a teenager so my opinion doesn’t count around here.

BWW is accepting of MANY teenagers(myself included) as long as you are respectful of the basic rules of English and type out intelligent reasons to support your beliefs. It is statements like yours that annoys many members because those statements are unfairly judgemental of the users. Just be intelligent and/or support your arguments and avoid chat speak and you will be fine.
