Posted: 2/27/15 at 9:00pmJust to respond to the posters above wondering why or when the discussion might ever have happened about the creative teams (or the producer, for that matter) getting a share of the "restoration fee" you might want to be aware that this was a hotly contested issue when the fees were first put in place. The various theatrical unions had arbitrations with the theater owners claiming that their membership was entitled to a portion of the fees because they were, in effect, a part of the gross box office revenue and should therefore be a part of the calculation when artists or producers were paid royalties based on the gross. The unions, so far, have lost those arguments, but it's not like they never happened. And they have at least some validity. Since the ticket-buyer is paying the fee, and it's not specifically related to the cost of processing the ticket sale (like a Telecharge or Ticketmaster fee), why shouldn't it be counted as a part of the gross? I'm not saying it should, but it's not such a simple situation...

Posted: 2/27/15 at 9:16pmI just wish they'd update the marquees. They're so clunky and gross. I loved when Disney restored the Rogers to its original marquee. I wish they'd keep doing that.

Posted: 2/27/15 at 9:58pmYou really don't need wifi in the theatre, also the Music Box isn't really that bad with the outside.

There is no new thing under the sun. In 1888, D'Oyly Carte tried to charge the expense of minor renovations to the Savoy Theatre to the partnership he had with Gilbert and Sullivan to produce their last great hit, The Gondoliers. Gilbert was furious, doubly so when Sullivan sided with Carte, and sued.

"I think that every theatre should have free wifi!"...
Okay... but it's encouraging theatre-goers to be on their phones the whole time. Not okay with this. Nope.

Posted: 2/28/15 at 10:30amThere's no way that 'power washing' would fix it. Pretty specialist and costly work.
