Personally, I think Tuacahn Amphitheatre's production in Utah looks much more impressive.

I agree that the Tuacahn production looks pretty impressive. Stay tuned for my review on the Salt Lake page in a few weeks...

They both look terrible. I definitely liked the much simpler approach to the look of the genie that the 5th Avenue Theatre production adapted.
The Seattle Genie played the part as the standard comedy "black best friend." It appears the script may be the same but Tartaglia has been instructed to play it as "gay best friend."

That production got horrible reviews....and deserved every single one of them. It wasn't a "simpler" approach just an "uncreative" one.
Their production of Mermid looks great with the exception of Kiss the Girl and how the animal costumes are a little too literal and cartoony, but overall from the you tube video it looked amazing and this comes from someone who loved the Broadway production even with all it's flaws. It looks like it had the perfect combination of heelys and wire work. How gigantic is that stage though?!? That would explain partially why the show Mermaid works so well and look so impressive, those sets are georgeous and huge.

The theme park production design is still better.

Thus far, I have been VERY impressed with Tuacahn's work with Disney productions. They have done the best regional production of MERMAID thus far, in my opinion. Their concept of blacking out the MERMAID's legs has room for potential. And their Ursula scene near the end looks stunning in pictures. While yes, the costumes are a bit cartoony, they are some of the best work I've seen from regional theatre companies for the production. I loved Flotsom and Jetsom's, in particular. I haven't been impressed with the MUNY's Disney productions at all thus far. Point blank, that stage is just too friggin' big.
Here is a video from their production of MERMAID (it says Theatre St. George, but it is Tuacahn). That ship and water in the beginning is incredible.

The MUNY production looks ghastly. Definitely won't be making a six hour drive to see that one.
