One would think that the show would have been revived by now
Oh I'm sure Roundabout will **** it up eventually.

It's a boring show. So unless they have some real star power, it's not worth producing.
I say:
Judi Dench - Mother Superior
Meryl Streep - Psychiatrist
Natalie Portman - Agnes

Gonna toss in...
Tyne Daly for Mother Superior
Laura Linney as Martha Livingstone
and for a left fielder
Carey Mulligrew (sp) as Agnes
I suggested a revival of this a year or so ago with Judi Dench and Marcia Gay Harden. I'd still love to see them in this piece.

We have The Divine Sister. We don't need to stinkin' Agnes of God.
Linney as the psychiatrist would be just about perfect. I'd go with Cherry Jones as Mother Superior, and Allison Pill as Agnes.

It is a very boring a dated play.
Sogourney Weaver as Mother Superior would also be fantastic.
I would see Weaver as the psychiatrist rather than Mother Superior.
Either/or, I guess. I think she should just 39 STEPS-it and play both roles.

I reread this play recently and if really doesn't hold up very well. I remembered it being a lot better than it was upon second reading. I don't think a revival would hold up very well. However I do agree that Roundabout will eventually get around it to, maybe with Sienna Miller, haha. Total joke!
My dream cast would be Amy Morton as Martha Livingstone, Deanna Dunegan as Mother Superior and Jennifer Lawrence as Agnes. And the play isn't really dated at all - it holds up quite well and is the definition of a "well-made play".

The Sound of Music, Doubt, Nunsense, The Runner Stumbles, Mass Appeal and Sister Mary Ignatius pretty much cover the topic of Catholicism. Agnes of God really didn't add anything to the genre.
Just do EQUUS with drag queens. Same thing really.
Whatever happened to John Pielmier?

He wrote Boys of Winter and Sleight of Hand, both of which closed the week of their opening, I believe. I don't think he's done anything on Broadway since.
