Phyllis said (years ago):"Twelve Little Indians and Eeny Meeny Miney Mo are children's rhymes, but that doesn't change the fact that their origins are steeped in racism."
And speaking of the original "version" of Eeny Meeny, let's not forget what Ten Little Indians originally was called (both the rhyme, and the Agatha Christie novel.)
"This is a charming number that children love. Shame on those who denigrate it. "
I have little doubt that they love the "cleaned up" version just as much. As a kid in the '80s when I first saw the Mary Martin original the song made me very uncomfortable.
It's always curious to me that the only people who actually use the expression "political correctness" are those who decry it. And those who decry tend to make a point of acting like dickwads at all times.
I'll bet you'd like to ban Huckleberry Finn from all school libraries too
No, not at all. Your unfounded leap to book-burning is bananas, since nowhere was anyone advocating banning anything. I certainly wasn't when I brought up children's rhymes too years ago. Perhaps your desire to crusade against "political correctness" is impeding your ability to absorb what you read?
And nice language. Makes you sound brilliant.
This from the person who continually makes posts about who he'd like to rim. If sounding brilliant is important to you (and I'm supposing it must be, otherwise why bring it up?), you've got a long way to go yourself.
Political correctness is absurd and a horrible American phenom, in my never to be humble opinion.
That's not surprising. People like you seem to think "political correctness" gets in the way of your unmitigated right to be an a-hole. I can understand how that could be threatening to you, since being an a-hole seems to be all you have.
