Just went to the site. It is a great idea. I am all for getting students into the theatre. I co-chair an organization at the Denver Center Theatre Company that as part of its mission is dedicated to getting underpriviledged African American students into the theatre. We make sure that they at least see on Shakespeare play. We provide a study guide for the shows. I and other members of the organization go to the theatre and meet the students before the show for lunch (Which we provide) and discuss the show with them at intermission and after the show. For shows that don't take place in the present time or even within the last 75 years, we ask them how they think the story would play out today. We have to go looking for sponsors for this and it's not always easy. So I can understand this post. maybe it came off as if she wanted donations specifically for her but it looks like she is asking for donations to this organization. I know I am not rich, but if I can save to buy tickets for a show and seeing that I am a huge theatre fan, I will look into buying one of their products knowing that my small contribution may help this young girl see Wicked or some other show someday!
