Posted: 11/5/08 at 9:14pm"Spamalot" still goes as a new musical and will end their 4 year run as "a new musical." I HOPE that it will stop by the 10th anniversary, but you never know.

A New Musical means that its original not a revival.
They usually leave it up for their whole run.

No...it's part of the title. Pure and simple. Not all musicals use it.
For a while it was "in" to add THE MUSICAL. But it will not be removed during the duration no doubt.

Posted: 11/6/08 at 2:57amThey've now removed it in London, now on tickets and leaflets it says "The hit musical" but it stays "new" on the front of the building, and on ticketmaster!

I don't think they did...I just think it was always THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.

"For a while it was "in" to add THE MUSICAL"
Giving rise to parodies like "The Musical of Musicals: The Musical" (a VERY funny show, BTW.)
Soem whows need to hve "The Musical" but they're few and far between.
