Miss Galinda... your comment made me think of a comedian said a great bit...

he went on to say that he loves how the typical frat guy or tough guy hates N'Sync and all those boy bands and likes to talk sh*t about them whenever he gets a chance... but the second one of their songs come on at a club, they are dancing and singing the lyrics along with everybody else... haha...

I definitely agree with you.... WICKED is the same way... almost everyone who here who hates it can't stand that it's popular but they know the entire score! haha

It's a fun show. The first act is very strong, but the second act is very weak. Characters, with the exception of Glinda and Elphie, are not developed at all. It has good songs for the most part, that her memorable and don't all sounds the same like many musicals today.

why the score can be addicting I do think there are some flaws but I still love it, no one can beat the talent that is offered in the show and being a fan of the wizard oz I like that it gave me a whole new perspective. is wicked the best show out there? no but it's still a wonderful uplifting theatrical experience.

I read the book and loved the book but the musical, in my opinion, really assassinated the characters' personalities. Boq did have a crush on Glinda, but she returned the affection and then he lived happily with a family of his own. Nessa was more or less a religious zealot and didn't have feelings for Boq. Fiyero was younger than the others, was already married and never had any feelings for anyone until he met Elphaba years later quite by accident. There was also no grand scheme by the wizard to make the world think Elphaba was wicked. It kind of just happened through rumours and say-so. And as for the scarecrow thing, Elphaba wanted more than anything for the scarecrow to be Fiyero and after years alone in Fiyero's castle with her nanny, monkeys and possible son, she was more than heartbroken to find out that the scarecrow was just a scarecrow.

And as far as the musical goes, "life is aimless for the brainless"? I pretty much figured out by then while trying to dodge the falling anvils that Fiyero would be the scarecrow at the end of the show.

I saw the show for 3 reasons: Idina, Kristin and Joel. I was impressed with them, but who wouldn't be? And I'm glad for any show that attracts new people to theatre. I just wish the show was as good as the book.

"Yes it is like a Twinkie, a bunch of crap rolled together but when you actually crave it, it tastes pretty damned good. Afterward you feel guilty."

That's actually an excellent analogy.
