I was at Steph and Annaleigh's first 4 shows (thank you lotto!). I'll admit that i wasn't too excited about Annaleigh after the first night. It was a little rough. But, i figured that it was her first night and she was working through the role, so to speak. And, in my opinion, that's exactly what she's doing. The next 3 nights were great! Her Popular was wonderful..so much so that Steph started laughing, which just made it even better. She did forget the words to Thank Goodness 2 out of the 4 nights and her comedic timing could be a bit better with some of the funnier lines...But, all in all, i really enjoyed her performance and i think she's just going to get better and better!
Wickedpirate, you must be the luckiest person alive. Have you played the real lottery lately?
Oh, Grand Motel, you don't believe everything you read on the internet, do you?
Aw Walt, you of all people should have caught my sarcasm.
LOL. Sarcasm is hard to read on the internets.
Caught Annaleigh as Glinda (with Caissie Levy and Michael Seelbach) earlier this week. My thoughts...
Where to begin. Well, the Glinda you saw at Shiz was the same Glinda you saw in "For Good." There really was no character. Just an actress who seemed in over her head, surrounded by a stellar company. It was like a high school performer who won a contest to be a lead in a Broadway show for the day.
Vocally, NOMTW was strained and thin (the top notes sort of fluttered out in Reinders fashion.) TG was better, but there was nothing going on acting-wise. And frankly, she wasn't very funny. Granted, every audience reacts differently from show to show, but she was just not scoring laughs (even foolproof lines like "*sob* it's Glinda now!") Yet, the audience laughed when she said "Elphie?" right after the melting? She did do Margot-spirit-fingers in "Popular," and borrowed a few of Kendra's bits ("Poof," "Yessidoo.") So she's...trying?

Dear Whom-ever,
After comming across this thread, I HAD to make an account here just to give you a piece of my mind....I saw, and met, Annaleigh three times during the end of her broadway run. Let me tell you, that she was FANTASTIC!!! Her jokes had the audience in stitches, and, her emotion had everyone crying and by the end. People waited and hour and half outside in the freezing, New York City weather just to meet her. Luckily, I was able to. And, let me tell you, that after giving an OUTSTANDING performance, she was one of the nicest Broadway stars I have EVER met. Look, sometimes performers have rough patches, and, sometimes dont always adjust to a new show very smoothly. BUT, in time, could be the best performer you ever see. So, unless YOU think that YOU can get up and do what she does every night and still do it better - YOU shouldnt have anything negative to say. Annaleigh Ashford is absolutely brilliant and my favorite Broadway performer. I respect your opinion, but unfortunatly its too late for you to give her another chance in that role; and for that, I'm sorry for you.
Piss off. This thread is 2.5 years old. No one gives a sh*t anymore.
LOL!
Oh. Wow.
I saw her three times and thought she was awful.
Worst thread bump ever...
Annaleigh, do you have nothing else better to do than to come to your own defense?
Her jokes had the audience in stitches, and, her emotion had everyone crying and by the end.
Annaleigh and can't even structure a proper sentence and by the end.
True dat.
