I'm a huge fan of Katie Rose Clarke- she is my favorite Glinda!
I recently went to the June 22nd matinee but was rushing off to another show and didn't have time to stage door. I was wondering, if I went back and waited at the stage door starting around 4:30 to 5 at perhaps the next weekend matinee, how likely would I be able to get a picture with Katie and get her to sign my playbill along with Lindsey Mendez and Derek Klena? Does anyone know if they come out between the matinee and the evening performance and how soon do they come out?

Stage dooring Wicked is tricky. Those witches never feel like doing anything after their performance. I have never met both witches the same night after seeing it on Broadway. It may be different since Mendez is building her fan base but the last three times I went during Burns, Schwartz/ Burns, Mauzy and niether came out. You may have better luck after an evening performance but really It's a bit unpredictable. I was walking past after seeing Edwin Drood one night and saw Burns outside and got to meet her there it was well past 11:00 PM though.
Anyone know if Klena's been coming out? Where is the stage door at the Gershwin? My sister is going to the matinee next Sat. she's got a major crush!

To my knowledge, Katie and Lindsay both come out as does Derek. There are no guarantees ever, but based on the past, yes. Every time I have seen Katie she has come out.

Have you gone to matinees and how many people are usually there waiting?

My advice is that if you really want to met someone- go after evening shows- generally your chances are WAY better that more actors will come out because they are leaving the theatre, only SOME actors come out in between shows. even if you see a Matinee performance, just come back after the evening show.
To get to the Gershwin stage door you leave the building and head right to get to 51st and turn left. Stage door is on the left

I have seen Katie 3x, twice on evenings and once for a matinee. On Broadway there could be any number of people waiting, but since it's summer and warm the numbers are likely to be high. Wicked's still the hottest show on Broadway and it has a lotta fans
Last summer after the matinee I saw there were probably a good 50 or so. In the winter when i've gone there've been about 10-20.
Katie comes out. I'm not sure what WickedRent is talking about, but in my experiences, both actresses have come out, with the exception of one or two times. That said, I haven't stage-doored Wicked in quite a while, but Katie usually comes out.

If there are around 50 people waiting, do they actually sign for everyone or do they only sign for the first maybe 20 or so and leave?

But since I'm not going to see the show and just going straight to the stage door, is there any way I can check online to see if there aren't any understudies or standbys going on for the day so I won't waste my time going for no reason?
Sorry for so many questions: I'm new at all of this.

No, you can't check online to see if there are understudies.

There is a board in the lobby. When you walk in its on the wall to the left back near the coat check.

Has anyone had success with Katie and Lindsey at the stage door after the matinee in the recent weeks?
I've gone twice and they both didn't come out both times.

Knowing the Lindsay is doing a weekly blog that she seems to videotape on matinee days, I would guess she might be busy in-between the shows. Most actors I know do not come out between matinees for big costume/makeup shows. I doubt that Lindsay takes off her green makeup after the matiness but I could be wrong.
When I saw the show last month at an evening performance all three of the leads came out and signed for everyone in the group and posed for pictures as well. About 25 people.
^^ I saw in a video with one of the previous Elphabas (I couldn't say which one, it was months ago) that the green has to come off between shows.
I stage doored with Burns/Schwartz and neither came out. Though I did meet Randy Danson, Etai BenShlomo, and Adam Grupper. (All of whom were very kind)

You stagedoored after the matinee?
Thinking of going next week after an evening performance but I'm not sure what my chances are either. Does anyone know around how long it takes to get the green makeup off? And they don't usually use a hidden exit, do they?

The one time I saw the show on Broadway with Mandy Gonzalez and Katie Rose Clark it was a Thursday or Friday evening and both came out. I don't remember how long it took but both were very generous. Mandy seemed a little tired but still nice. You should be fine at an evening performance. Good luck!
