Going with a group of high school students I intern with to see the Wicked national tour. Does anyone happen to know if the cast signs autographs? The show is at 1:30 if that matters.

Can't speak for the matinee, but when I've seen the tour in Buffalo, Toronto and Rochester the cast has always come out and signed/taken pictures.

Yep, Jacksonville. I figured being a matinee they would go and eat in between shoes at the landing.

Nick, how was the show? I am going on Friday. I don't think its selling out like it did when it came last year. There are alot of empty seats on the FCCJ maps.

^I heard it was selling out really well. But that comes from one of my friends who lives down there and who's cousin apparently works in the theater itself so I dont know how accurate that is.

Im not sure if "empty seats" is accurate. I had to search for seats when I decided at the last minute to go. Personally, I thought the cast was nice (not the strongest of singers but good) my only complaint was volume, it didn't seem loud enough.

ucjrdude902, you went on the second day. Do a search for next week and you will see many unsold seats in second orchestra and balcony on many days. That is why they gave out free tickets on opening night to make sure they have sold out attendance. A friend who works for the Artist Series told me it is to create a "buzz". At some venues that I volunteer for around Jax, they have been known to give away as much as eighty sets of comps to give the illusion that the show sold better than it did.

The cast that is in Jacksonville is the 2nd National Tour Cast which usually isn't as strong as the 1st National Tour Cast.

^ I disagree. Sure, at points there are better elphabas/glindas on either tour. The 2nd National tour is by no means not as good as the first though.

The second national tour just plays smaller venues. It by no means has less talented actors. Both are national touring productions which feature equity actors.

And in some cases it plays the same venues the 1st national tour has played. Such as Costa Mesa's Segertstrom theatre.

I'm in Jacksonville too! Small world isn't it. Believe it or not- I have yet to see Wicked! Just haven't been in the right place at the right time. It's playing here for 3 weeks and I'm hoping to see it this time. It got a good write up in the paper.

The show was PHENOMENAL tonight. The audience was the best I've ever heard tonight.

In return, Tiffany did the E6 during No One Mourns the Wicked (optional high note) and Anne did a "Fiyero" note riff I've never heard before.

I was extremely impressed. Tiffany is now my favorite Glinda. She is extremely strong in the role. Anne is great, too!

I do not think it has sold as well as the first time around in 2009.

HOWEVER...the ticket lotteries so far have had much better turnout then 2009. Also, they are giving out "lotto loser" seats to people who don't win the lottery.

Supportivemom I thought you were in my area, in fact if I can recall correctly your daughter and myself both auditioned for Hairspray together for the Thespian Society. I'm seeing the show later in its "run" with my mom so I'll post a full review after that. I did notice a lighting issue but I figured it was only there second day so they were probably just getting use to Jacksonville.

The only Hairspray my daughter auditioned for was the FSCJ summer musical. Is that the one of which you speak? PM me!

"The second national tour just plays smaller venues."

Both tours played in the same theatre in Pittsburgh which is twice the size of most broadway theatres. The venues themselves are actually bigger...just the stages are smaller.

Glad to know they are doing loser seats in jacksonville. I'm planning on hitting the lotto when I'm there and doing the loser seats if I would lose.

DefyGravity777, the loser seats are NOT for every performance. I went last night (Friday) and entered the lotto, with a friend. My friend won. They announced after, no loser seats. Probally because it was Friday night. Wednesday and Thursday night, they had them. The cost is $40, for second, third pricing. The lotto seats are lousy. Front three rows, but extreme side. If one has never seen the show I would not recommend. I sat further back for the Ist act and then sat Row A for second. It was unique, because I never sat that close for Wicked and was able to see make-up, costuming, etc from a close-up perception. If you do lotto, I would recommend a weeknignt, so that loser seats are given. Also whether or not they are Ist or Second tour, both leads, as well as the rest of the cast were exceptional, especially Elpheba. The actress (don't know her name) had a great voice.

^I know all about loser seats and how they work. I also know that lotto seats on the tours usually suck. I probably know more about the show and seen it more times than you can even try to imagine. Jacksonville is the 2NT. The actress that plays Elphaba name is Anne Brummel and I know that she is excellent.

You nasty bitter piece of work. I was only trying to give you some information so that you would not be disappointed like many others down there who came to do the lotto. You know nothing of me. I'm sure you're as educated and well traveled as me...since you're a postgirl. I guess somebody has to do that. If thats your picture then the sterotype fits. By the way my opinion I was giving aout the second tour was not for you, but for anyone who was saying the second tour was not as good as the first.

Well- I'm no longer a Wicked virgin! Saw the show tonight in Jacksonville. Elphaba was played by Stephanie Torns and I thought she did a great job. I looked her up and found out she is a graduate of AMDA. I guess that school does turn out some good people afterall. I was lucky in that I sat near the back of the theatre and the 3 rows in front of me were completely empty. It was nice that my view wasn't obstructed- even after I moved up after intermission! I thought it was a good show but it didn't blow me away (sorry- but I'm just very critical). I'm glad I went though. The costumes were beautiful. ArtMan- I'm glad I didn't do the lotto and that was mainly due to your excellent advice! Overall- I had a wonderful evening!
