I am SO sorry to be cluttering the board with another Wicked topic, but I really need some information. (And I'm REALLY bad at explaining things, so bear with me!) I've been looking at the tickets for the show in Durham, NC. A small group of my friends want to go, but we don't have that big of a budget, so we were aiming for the $30 nosebleed seats. We've been trying to pick a date and get our money together for a little while now. I know that tickets are typically cheaper on the weekdays, so I chose a Wednesday. I chose the thirty dollar seats and Ticketmaster showed me that there was a block of 8 seats available. The next week, I checked the site again and the seats were still available, but the price had gone up to $40. I chose a different date yesterday and it was still offering $30 seats, but today I checked and those have also gone up to $40. However, the website still says that tickets range from $30 to $140. Is it typical for a show's ticket prices to go up as the show comes closer? I've never heard of that happening before. Thanks for any help!
Why not CALL Ticketmaster and talk to a human being?
I'm TERRIBLE at talking over the phone. But I guess I should just suck it up and call them. Would it be better for me to call the Durham Performing Arts Center's Box Office or Ticketmaster?

If you have a sufficiently large group of people, you'll probably qualify for their group rate -- generally, it's between 8 and 10 seats minimum at the houses I deal with.
I'd call the box office first, and ask for Group Sales.
I e-mailed them and they said that Wicked uses a variable pricing system similar to airlines. As the availability goes up, the price also increases. I still think it's a little ridiculous to raise the price a full $10, but I guess Wicked figures that they can charge whatever they want and people will still come. Oh well.....I've already seen Wicked once on Broadway so I was really doing this for my friends. Thanks for your help!

Does anyone know if the tour has any sort of rush/lotto?

As far as I know, both tours have a lotto for tickets. I know they did when I saw the first tour last May and the second tour last October. If memory serves me right, you can put your name in two and half hours before curtain and they draw the names two hours before curtain. You can buy two tickets and have to pay cash. One word of warning is that some of tickets (especially when they get down to the last few) are partial view.

I know that The tour has a lottery. At least in Miami it has had a lottery every time it has come to south Florida (4 times already). I think you should call the box office because ticketmaster always charges more for convinence charge and all of the stuff.

Note that if the box *is* a Ticketmaster outlet (some are, some aren't), then *they have to charge you all those extra fees anyway* unless you show up in person, even on their own shows.
The venue I used to be production coordinator for was *not* a Ticketmaster outlet for precisely this reason.
