I was at the Water Tower Place mall in downtown Chicago earlier today, and there was a display for Wicked!
The only reason it was really exciting is because they had Elphaba's Act 2 dress on display. My aunt and I were trying to figure out if it was real or just a cheap replica, but then we figured that it is probably Idina's old dress because everyone else's dress is being used. It was amazing to see the dress so closely and to be able to see all the amazing detail.
I took several pictures of it. I will try to post them later.
Has anyone else seen this?
WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN CHICAGO AND WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME YOU WERE GOING!
Capn, I didn't realize I had to report my every move to you. :-P
I am visiting my aunt and I paid a visit to the University of Chicago. I will be leaving for NYC on Wed.
Cool. I don't work too far from Water Tower. Maybe I'll go check it out. Any specifics on where it is located?

they also had a bunch of the costumes on display around the Oriental theatre when the tour was there. Not sure if they kept them on display or not.
I think it is on the Mezzanine level. It's across from that FoodLife Cafe thingy.
Cool.
The costumes that were displayed around the Oriental theatre was a "One Short Day" costume. They also have a few Lion King masks and a Zazu puppet on display. FYI, the display is on Dearborn street...across the street from the Goodman Theatre.
Shneb,
All those puppets are damn impressive! Kudos. And I will likely see you around Wicked stage door when it comes back to Toronto.

I finally got my pictures on the computer. I hope you can see these:
great pictures! This is the one on dearborn street.
That's a great picture, but it's sideways!!
hehe i know...I couldn't rotate it.
Great pictures. I never realized how many colors were in Elphaba's dress. I just remember that it shimmered. Gorgeous. Wow.
Yeah that is Idina's old dress. I think everytime they re-make the dress, the patterns and swirls are a little different, like on Shoshana's that gold shimmer streak is in the back, and not on the lower right side of the bodice like on Idina's-or the one in the picture.

Hope you don't mind. I went ahead and rotated it for you.

Wow I never realized that dress had colors in it! That made my day. I just thought it was different blacks and dark colors. It's such an amazing sight to see close. I wanna see it in person now! I saw it in the theatre from the mezzanine but that doesnt count!
Oo! So pretty! I never really realized how intricate it was.
Thanks Elphabuff2!
Those costumes are absolutely phenomenal. Is that Steph Block in one of the pictures behind the green dress?(Morrible's dress?Possibly?)
Idina's dress is so unbelievably gorgeous.Ah, love.<3
Looks like it could be Steph! By the way, they are stunning dresses~ Wonder how heavy they are!

That's Awesome! It reminds me of the tour! I saw it in Toronto and it was the best
Don't forget folks, they make a lot of duplicate dresses for each show so that they can switch them around due to wear and tear(literally!)
I wouldn't count on that being Idina's dress. They usually keep the dresses of the original stars. Who knows, someday an auction?
Or a donation to a museum, etc.
Yes, that's Stephanie J. Block in the back picture.
