Wicked fans - my Jennifer Laura Thompson mystery

When I went to see Wicked in Oct. I didn't get to meet any of the leads from the show. I decided to write JLT a nice note telling her how much I loved her performance. I also included a 2 pictures that I printed out on my computer and asked JLT if she would sign them. One is a picture of just JLT, the other is JLT and Idina. Lo and behold I received both pictures back in the mail 4 mos. later signed with a really nice note from JLT thanking me for the card I sent. HOW VERY COOL!

But here's the odd interesting yet I think very neat thing. One picture JLT signed...and the other...Idina Menzel?!?! The only thing is, the signature doesn't really look like the Idina signatures I've seen people post in the past....I received this picture Wed., which means if Idina signed it it was shortly after her injury (I live in Cali., so mail would take a few days). Then again, I can't imagine JLT forging the signature--that just doesn't make sense! My question is, did Idina really sign this picture? Here's a link of the photo...Wicked fans - my Jennifer Laura Thompson mystery

Regardless, I think it was very nice for JLT to sign my pictures, have Idina sign one, and write such a nice note. These are definitely going up in a nice frame!

You're right, the Idina signiture doesn't look like my signed program (that i got signed at the stage door) or the autographed picture she sent me. Odd...It's still cool she responded back.

I have stuff that's been signed by Idina at the stage door, and it's just her first initial and something that's *supposed* to be her last name... which makes perfect sense because she signed a billion and a half things, and was rushed. But I know people that have had her sign stuff that they mailed to her, and the signatures are much fuller, kind of like yours. I don't remember exactly what they look like, but that's the only explanation I can offer.

Thanks for the input. Ya, Jennifer signed her full name, which is really neat. And her note is signed JL Thompson and looks a lot like the other signatures I've seen people post. I guess it depends on how Idina was holding the pen, maybe if she was hurt?, or whatever. Either way, it was very cool of her to write back! Class act!

That's definitely not Idina's signature, she's a lefty, the slant on that is righty. Maybe her dresser signed it.
You take it off by erasing it with a pencil eraser or if you take a wipe board marker, just black over it and wipe with a tissue and it comes off.

I saw Wicked on the 28th of January and Idina's signature looked very similar to that but it was a little sloppier since she was being rushed. I'm pretty sure that its hers.

you guys are crazy... the slant? im left handed, I can write slanted in any direction I chose. I dont know what her sig looks like but a lot of things can affect a sig, having more time definitely explains writing a whole name- not having something to lean on could affect the neatness. i find it hard to believe that it would be signed by anyone other than the person whose name it says.

re: Wicked fans - my Jennifer Laura Thompson mystery

I have 4 Idina sigs, 2 from Wicked stage door, 1 from Aida, and 1 when I wrote to her. The 2 from wicked stage door are illegible so can't really compare to yours. However, the Aida and the fan mail ones that I have look nothing like yours. Usually, Idina's sig involves a really big Z in MenZel, thats the first thing I saw in your sig that made me think it wasn't really her. Hope I helped.

re: Wicked fans - my Jennifer Laura Thompson mystery

I dunno. . i got my program signed by Idina at the stage door and it looks nothing like the one you have. Then again, she was so rushed when she signed mine, her signature doesn't really look like it says Idina Menzel.

On another note, if i wanted to send something to Idina now, what address would I send it to? It's too late to use the Gershwin one now since she's already left. Any1 know?

re: Wicked fans - my Jennifer Laura Thompson mystery

That doesnt really look like Jennifer Laura Thompson's either. I sent her something to sign, then met her at the stage door and they both matched. I put them both up to yours and they dont look the same. On both of mine, she was more "scriptive" like she exagerated some letters being really big.

Carol Shelley has such an awesome autograph! She spends like a 1 minute signing! It's so "perfect"

re: Wicked fans - my Jennifer Laura Thompson mystery

nah, that's def. Jenn's....

and you're right about Carole. No wonder she doesn't sign @ the stage door... it'd take her like ten mins. to sign a few playbills...

No, that's Jen's signature. I think it's just her elongated one and that is what is throwing everyone off. Usually, when she is at the door, she shortens her name, but that's her sig.

Look at the J and the T, it should give it away.

re: Wicked fans - my Jennifer Laura Thompson mystery

Ya, I agree that its Jennifer's. I think she just wrote out her entire name because there was plenty of space on the picture, and because she wasn't rushed. On her note to me, she signed JLThompson, and it looks like other signatures I've seen. I sent a nice card with a sketch on the front, so maybe she wanted to sign extra nicely (which I'd like to believe!)? re: Wicked fans - my Jennifer Laura Thompson mystery

The Idina one looks like someone took time to do it--the flow of the ink streaks perhaps? Or, maybe she signed it with one hand while standing away from the pic (meaning, not holding the paper down while writing-try it) and the silver/green pen didn't cooperate with the paper and it came out looking funny? I don't know! The loops appear to be there, but everyone is right, it doesn't look like hers.

When it comes down to it, I really don't care either way. I just wanted Jennifer's signature and I got it! It was great of her to respond and am definitely thinking of checking out the show again when I'm in NY just because of her. :)

re: Wicked fans - my Jennifer Laura Thompson mystery

I don't think the way it slants has anything to do with her being a lefty. I am a lefty and i don't have to turn the paper all sideways to write. I just happen to be one of those who can just write across simple. she could be the same way too.
A dancer might dream to see her name in lights and mean it, but all she really dreams is to make someone else feel the way she did when she first saw a dancer. And that is so beautiful-Anonymous

re: Wicked fans - my Jennifer Laura Thompson mystery

Sorry Mistress, but the slant does make a difference and if you look at Idina's sigs, whether she's had time or rushed, it's always the same slant. Even when she's signing up in the crowd. She even uses the same pressure. Most people do, you're probably not even aware of it.
