Wicked the Movie?

I was looking on another website and came across a forum where some people were talking about the musical Wicked being made into a movie? Does anyone have any ideas if this is true or not? Any info? and if it is real then when does it come out? HOW EXCITING!!!

I guess you must live under a huge rock. The film was released over a year ago and they just NOW announced it's DVD and Blu-ray release date: Tuesday March 15, 2011.

In case you missed it. The film was directed by Baz Luhrmann and starred Amy Adams as Glinda, Anne Hathaway as Elphaba, Jake Gyllenhaal as Fiyero, Zac Ephron as Boq, Shirley MacLaine as Madame Morrible and Robin Williams as The Wizard.

Even better than that lion cub scene was how they did "Defying Gravity." There was clearly a lot of research done into the old European folklore describing how witches flew. Let me tell you, watching Anne Hathaway rub that greasy potion all over herself...

And the way she just took control of that broomstick...

Damn, I can't wait for that Blu-ray so I can pause...and zoom...

They added the tune that was removed before the stage show moved to Broadway "It's so long and it's MINE!" for the movie.

I was really surprised that they filmed the tiger sex scene from the book! Luhrmann was so vociferous about wanting to keep it as true to the spirit of the musical as possible. Still, it was brilliantly done. You can do wonders with CG these days! :3

I never got to see the movie because I was afraid it might not be faithful to the musical. Pray tell, was 'It's Long & It's Mine!" about Fiyero or her broomstick?
