Wicked: Behind the Emerald Curtain.

So for my birthday I got tickets to see Wicked Behind the Emerald Curtain and then see the show at 2:00. Although I'm in the back row I can't wait!

This is my FIRST broadway show I will have ever seen!

I was wondering if you guys have any tips for me seeing it since it is my first show?!

Thanks!
Ashley

Any tips? Hmmm...

1) Have your tickets out and ready
2) Proceed slowly (do not rush) up the escalators into the theater.
3) Only take one playbill per person. If you want more to put on your bedroom wall, please wait until after the show to take them.
4) I'm sure by now you know every word to the show. Please refrain from singing out loud and/or reciting dialogue along with the actors. This is Wicked, not Rocky Horror.
5) Clapping is allowed and certainly encouraged, however yelling is not. I understand it's exciting to see the real life Elphaba on the stage and she represents everything you're going through in your own life but do not yell and shriek at her. It only gets her mad.
6) Wicked merchandise is for sale before during and after the show, although I'm sure you will want to rush to the stage door immediately. If that is the case be sure your keepsake collectable Wicked sippy cup is completely empty before you put it in your bag with all of your playbills since it will leak, ruining your mementos.

With regards to the Emerald Curtain tour, just so you're not setting yourself up for disappointment...you don't ever get to go anywhere backstage. Your cast member tour guide (usually Tony Galde) takes you through the lobby (where there are special displays out) and then into the theater where there is a video and a q&a.

Sing a long really loud with your favorite songs! Bring plenty of hard candy in cellophane and indulge during the show. Stand up and "WOOT!" really loudly every time Elphaba comes on stage.

And be sure to tell everyone around that Fiyero is MUCH cuter on stage than on youtube. But don't say it too loud otherwise it'll end up on the video or audio that someone around you is bound to be making.

I wonder how long until:

a) We run out of teenagers obsessed with this thing.
b) Another thing opens for them to forget about this thing
c) This thing kills all of their brain cells
d) All of the above

As long as there are little fat girls with no friends who dream of being taken to the prom by the quarterback, there will always be WICKED.

Make sure you do all of the following, or else your Wicked experience is not complete:

1. Tell EVERYONE AROUND YOU how Lea Michele would be the best ELPHABA EVAAAARR <3<3<3 I LUV GLEEEE
2. At the stage door, give your favorite performer a gift, such as a hand-knitted scarf, baked goods, or used panties.
3. Photoshop your face over their significant others' in every photo you can find of them (try Facebook) and periodically send them to them.
4. Speaking of Facebook, "like" or comment on every status the performer posts. Write on their wall often so as to give the illusion that you are actually friends with this person. Impress your friends and family by making a clone of the performer's profile and using it to write on your own wall!
5. Does said performer's child have a pet rabbit? Boil that s***.
6. Post on BroadwaySecrets about all of the above, along with a screenshot of a YouTube clip of them singing with the word "FIERCE." superimposed on it. Also, make sure you post "I want to f*** _____________ so bad...AND I'M A STRAIGHT GIRL!"

7. Make sure you have a very padded behind, buy the Wicked 'popular' pants several sizes too small for you, then flash it around your webcam and post it on YouTube.

re: Wicked: Behind the Emerald Curtain.

1.) I am not "obsessed" with wicked.
2.) I am not a an overweight teen with no friends.
3.) My knowledge of broadway goes farther than just that of the show Wicked.
4.) It was a birthday present that I am grateful for. Being from Kentucky, I don't exactly get the chance to go to New York and see a broadway show whenever I want to so this is a big deal for me.
5.) I posted this in advice on how to have the best experience possible. I wasn't sure if there was certain etiquette I should be aware of when seeing a show on broadway.

I plan to enjoy myself! I'm going by myself and can't wait! I'm seeing Wicked at 2:00 and then another show at 8:00! My mom has another ticket for another show at 8:00 but it is a surprise. I get to find out what show it is when I go home this weekend!

Its going to be a big day!

I'm just being sarcastic haha. I guess that's kinda hard to show on one a message board lol.

I hope to enjoy myself! I'm in the rear mezzanine and in like the last row but I plan to still have a good time!

I was thinking about getting binoculars??? Like the theatre kind....My mom has a pair somewhere.....

re: Wicked: Behind the Emerald Curtain.

Have fun! I remember my first Broadway show, and it was a really exciting experience. Unfortunately, I don't get that same feeling every time I see a show nowadays because I go to the theater more often.

Let us know what the second show is!

You'll feel the same way about making love, too. Just you wait.

Haha.
I'm dying to know what the second show is!
I just know it's going to be a great experience. This will be my first time in New York!
I'm just worried about being so far back in the theater...

re: Wicked: Behind the Emerald Curtain.

You'll be able to see fine. Personally, I think binoculars are annoying and take away from the experience.

Ignore the nasties....have great time....it'll be fabulous for you.

The other poster is right about the Emerald Curtain thing.....I've heard it's pretty blah.
