Screw tickets! non-equity auditions?
Where does it say "non-equity" auditions?

No LittleFish, the tour didn't close. After its 7 week run in Chicago, the cast will re-locate to LA as scheduled. A new cast will take over and create a Chicago production so that "Wicked" remains in Chicago as a sit-down production instead of a tour. New sets will be created for the tour, since Chicago will keep the current tour sets.

The way the cropped they preview pic is pretty awful. Is this from the Tonys?
hehe the look on Idina's face is hilarious on that picture.
I am very excited for this! I think this will mean I might see Wicked a few more times. But, what will happen to the Little Shop of Horrors tour? The Cadillac Palace Theatre will have The Lion King in it, the Shubert will be under renovation, and I think the Auditorium Theatre is too big for LSOH.
Ok well now everything is coming into place. I'm a Musical Theatre student at Columbia in Chicago and last week a few of my friends went to an open call for "Wicked". I thought it was weird so I went to the equity website to see what it was all about and under the breakdown is said "This is not for Broadway. This is not a tour" and now it makes sence, because it won't be. It will just be here in Chicago and not going anywhere.
To add my friends who went to the audition said that they had them dance first and they said the dance was near impossible and they are pretty good dancers. They had people dance first and if they made it passed that they wanted to hear them sing. My voice teacher actually got a callback for Dr. Dillamond - he would do awesome in that part.
I think Wicked will do good here. Chicago has such a strong theatre community and with Wicked hireing Chicago actors, it will give us some more to add to the wonderful talent that we have here!

I wondered what would happen to "Little Shop" as well. It's possible that it could play the Auditorium, since the only other theatre it would play is The Chicago Theatre. The Chicago Theatre's stage is too small, and the exclusive deal with the Auditorium that Broadway in Chicago has left a bad taste in the Chicago Theatre's mouth. But I agree, the Auditorium is cavernous. It'll be interesting how they transpose the tickets.

Yes, Parks. That (unfortunately) atrocious photo of Ms. Menzel is from the (equally atrocious) Tony Awards performance.
One of my aunts students auditioned for this production! I don't know what the outcome was yet. I hope he got a part!
That picture of Idina is atrocious! The part with her head was in my local newspaper after her accident. One of my friends saw it and nearly died laughing. Then he went around my class showing everyone the picture and saying "This is her favorite actress! haha!" Yeah, he's obnoxious.

Elphie - when I saw the photo - I had to check the source because I thought it was a joke. Friends of mine have had call-backs, but I have not heard.
I was seriously considering writing an angry letter to the paper asking the WHY they used such a horrible picture of such a gorgeous person, but then I thought that might make me seem just a *little* crazy and weird. So I didn't.
ColumbiaMT--that's funny too cuz on the thing I read the open calls were for "Singers who can move"....lol or singers who are amazing dancers is what they meant I suppose!
*I love being right btw!
I have a question and I need a good answer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will be taking a trip to Chicago in July and I was wondering if "Wicked" will be open with the Chicago Cast when I get there?
I would love to see this show in Chicago and I know the touring company will be there from April thru June.

Could they get a worse pic of Idina? I'm so excited that its going to set down in Chicago. It would've been better in Toranto for me because I live about 3 hours from it but we have friends who live nearer to Chicago so we can meet them there and go to it. Then I can go back to NYC and see it again! It's wonderful to live in the middle of both places.
unmasked--they haven't announced the dates but Kristoffer Cusick told me that the open end wicked would start a week after the tour finishes...so the tour ends June 12 according to what he said it should start around the 20th....
