Why would Bea and Betty not get along? From what I've read and gathered, Betty White is one of the most professional and nicest people out there. Personality conflicts?

I like the "Golden Girls". Too bad they don't get along in real life. They seem believeable as friends on the show.

What is so special about you that you aren't "ALOUD" to say things?

Tenorific2 - I think it was just the case of two women who where famous in their own right prior to "The Golden Girls" (Bea in "Maude", Betty in "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" among alot of other things) and I think they where just use to doing things their own way and both had different ways of doing things and it job rubbed each other the wrong way.

I think this interview made Bea Arthur look like a "b*tch" for not congratulating Rue's involvement with Wicked.

Also, it's A-L-L-O-W-E-D not ALOUD.

Come on guys, check your spelling.

i think you are all sour for perpetuating such gossip. all four actresses are stars and will remain so in their own right. stop stirring the pot...find something a bit more "intelligent" to discuss

I'd never heard that about Bea not wanting to photographed with the other women before. If it's true that's incredibly unprofessional & childish. You get paid a lot of money, the least you can do is sit down for a few photo shoots.

Avigdor, you have to remember...This is showbiz, not a briefing in the CIA office.

"It's pretty much a given that not all actors get along when they work together. You don't have to be best friends with your co-stars, but just professional."

I couldn't agree more. It's called Show Business, not Show Friends. It's nice when you develope friendships with the people that you work with on stage/camara but it doesn't always happen. It's a job, not a social club.

emo- your response makes me laugh. You speak of respect. Well, here's a little lesson in respect. If you can't say why, (because it didn't happen to you). Then you can't call her that, (because it didn't happen to you). You have no problem calling a complete stranger a vulgar name, but in the same breath you don't want to violate your "friends" privacy. You ask us to respect your friend, whom we don't know, and then you turn around disrespect Carol, whom you don't know....A little ethically unbalanced don't you think?

I am finding this whole thread quite humorous. What makes some of you state things with such authority and certainty I'll never understand. Why people miss shows, why people don't sign things at the stage door, why this and why that... the concusions you all draw out of thin are are so quick to judge. What ever happened to giving people the benefit of the doubt? And as we all know (remember the article someone wrote about Stephanie coming back from a LEG injury?) people's words are often misinterpreted and taken out of context. Even in an article, things can be misquoted and edited to fit whatever story the writer is telling.

Dear Popular,

i hope you don't think i caused this? i'm sorry if i did! i honestly was interested to know whether or not i had been living under a 'bea and rue scandal' rock somewhere.

it certainly has turned out to be very humorous.

KEEP IT UP.
next, i want talk on religion, sexuality and then the meaning of life.
run with the ideas kids, run!

no seriously - bea and rue

Why are you apologizing to me?

No, I don't think you started anything on purpose. I mean in this case you DID start this thread, but my comment wasn't directed at you in particular. I was making a general statement that although it's human to be sucked into gossip, we shouldn't spread potentially harmful rumors about people...especially if we don't know the facts. This board is a great resource but I find that I often have to take what people write here with a grain of salt and just remember that by the time things get posted here the information may have passed a few people's mouths ... ever play that game broken telephone?

In regards to your question about Bea and Rue, I don't know. NOONE on this board knows for certain which is why I suppose this thread is so humorous to me. I'm sorry to say it's a bit silly and counterproductive hoping for an complete and truthful answer from anyone here. The only ones who can answer your question are Bea and Rue themselves... I mean even someone who worked on the set of the show with them only got an outside look at their relationship. Relationships within themselves are complex and it may well be that they had their differences. But if you are around someone day in day out for months and even years that's bound to happen with even the best of friends. If there was some drama between them my guess is that it was probably blown way out of proportion before the story hit the public.

I hope that made some sort of sense... I feel like I just rambled on but hopefully you got my point.
