(Now. This thread has nothing to do with Wicked in any way EXCLUDING the fact that it concerns one of its current performers OFF STAGE. if this thread turns into something elphaba related, i renounce my broadway religion! i love the show, just not all the time)
I was just on broadway.com (coughrivalsitecough) where I happened to read the Q & A interview with Rue McClanahan. The interview is fine and there are one or two random and indirect questions on her opinions of the show and Morrible, but the conclusion of the interview is what intrigues me.
The interviewer draws a harmless connection between Rue and her ex fellow golden gal Bea Arthur. When asked what Bea's thoughts on Rue's first appearance on broadway are (with Bea being, as we know, a type of broadway-darling), Rue claims that Bea has not even acknowledged her performance at all. Rue promptly follows this up by clearly stating that she would never take any advice Bea may give her anyway and that she "doesn't need it"!
Now, this struck me as a tad sour.
Is there a long running feud between Rue and Bea that i know nothing of? Or maybe i'm reading too much into it?

"...But Kungurtseva reels off multiple fouettes and the tape is stopped so she can take a bow. The Jester, an abomination introduced to Swan Lake in Soviet times, extorts applause from the audience. The cuts don't help the storytelling, the production is bare bones and they go for the '50s-style happy ending.
The audience cheers like mad at the end. It's the Russian ballet, after all..."
