Yea, I never really feel like my vist to New York is complete unless someone named Tony waits on me. I mean that IS New York!
The article said it's a rough demo which indicates it was put out there just as a test run, so they are really jumping the gun on this. And I'm wondering if Wildhorn actually wrote the lyrics, which he usually does not do, so they could just be maligning the wrong person anyway. The headline of this thread should be "The Post Writes a Crappy Article", but that would be SO redundant.

The article is certainly short on details.
Was this anthem written for a specific purpose? Where did "those within earshot" hear it? Why were they within earshot? Did Wildhorn write the lyrics?
Too few details. Makes me wonder if Guzman was even in attendance himself?
I take offense...I'm from Jersey and we don't accept trash.

Wildhorn should write Jersey's anthem.

Haha, sorry, Foa, I couldn't resist, babe....
"With lyrics like "It's a hot dog from Coney, it's a waiter named Tony" and "Go paint the town — paint it up, paint it down," the tune captures the city like a black-velvet poster of the skyline. Derivative, cliched and hokey beyond belief, it's an embarrassment — even from a composer The Post once called "the Kmart Andrew Lloyd Webber." "
ouch

Broadwaystar2b, he deserved it for all the bullsh*t he pulled with the 'Dracula' recording.
too true, but I wouldn't wish that kind of critique on anyone
New Jersey doesn't accept trash? New Jersey IS trash!
(I am from New York)
Thenardier...it's kind of wrong to call a whole state trash. It's one of the most beautiful states. Apparently you have never been to the Jersey shore.
Oh, I have.
All I know is Jersey is the armpit of our nation. Sure, an armpit has some good spots. But when you come down to it, it smells and needs to be covered artificially.
Oh please. And upstate NY is full of hicks. Talk about armpit. Please.
ok i love reading all this and everything but i looove frank wildhorn & i loved dracula...i think hes a talented writer but he should stick to musicals..
i love you allll <3 darrenn

Thernardier, stop exaggerating. If anything, us New Yorkers treat Jersey like it's our own trash-deposit which we really must stop. It has some really beautiful parts, especially, like Foa said, the shore. Can't beat it. (Although I prefer my Long Island beaches a bit more...)
I tend to agree that NJ is where we send our "trash." Since NY/Li has closed its garbage dumps, NJ (and PA) is where most of our "trash" now goes...hehehehe
That being said NJ has some pretty beaches, which pale in comparison to south shore of li though...

Gotta love our south shore, umgeo.
There is nothing like the beaches on the south shore. I lived in florida for a few years for college, and sadly the beaches up here are much nicer then even the "white" sand beaches of fla.
Anything Jersey has NY has better
Anything "NY" is better than Jersey
Childish, much?
Florida beaches are my personal fav (Destin, anyone?) but I'm very biased
You don't know the armpit of the nation until you driven through most of Louisiana. New Orleans is fun, but as for the rest...
