I am very excited to see Macy, but as I previously expected those pictures prove that he looks like Karen's father, not lover... but I am sure he has a new spin on the role and can't wait to experience it.
But, though I didn't see Piven, I though Norbs was perfect! And, his chemistry with Raul was irreplaceable!!

Posted: 1/14/09 at 9:32amIf that was directed at me - how did I indicate that I might be sorry? I've seen the show more times than I care to admit because I've been kind of hooked by the casting changes and like seeing different takes on the role. I've seen all three of the Bobbys so far. The only thing Macy brings to it that I have reservations about is the age difference. But he is an incredibly well-respected actor, deservingly so, and I look forward to seeing him, as well as the different dynamic that he's going to bring to the play.

You can register for a free account at WireImage and then you'll be able to see larger images of their pictures for 30 days after they are posted. They have a watermark across them, but it's not as annoying as other sites' watermarks. It looks like this:

It wasn't directed to you, luvtheEmcee, or really anybody - it was just an expression of speech. Apologies for the confusion.
It was a seamless performance, and his age was no barrier for me at all. Speaking of...

Christ, he's fifty-nine - hardly a tottering old geezer.
I wouldn't fret about the age. I didn't notice it all. Excellent chemistry all 'round. The performers really connected. Those looking for details will have to wait for someone else - I'm not much of a reviewer. But I highly, highly recommend it.

No, of course he isn't. He's a vibrant, energetic actor at the peak of his career.
HOWEVER....he looks, if not every bit of those 59 years, at least over 50. Raúl is 38 and Elisabeth is 26. That visual discrepancy is bound to be disconcerting. Also, the text indicates Bobby and Charlie are about the same age, having started together in the mailroom, etc. Strictly on looks alone, I think it would be very hard to convince an audience that this Bobby and Charlie are the same age. I believe that if anybody can pull it off with just their acting talent, these two men can, but I fear that visual is always going to be there, nagging at the edges.

I saw the show last night, and I didn't think there was anything nagging at the edges. In fact, I thought Moss worked better with Macy then she did with Piven. I really didn't think twice about Macy's age, nor did I find it distracting at all.

When I saw Piven (twice), he didn't seem to really be focusing on the character of Karen much in the second scene, which gave her so little to work with. He reminded me of some of my friends (?) who only listen to you because they are waiting for their turn to talk.
