This would be a very hard show to do at a community theatre.

I believe there are plans to tour.

the lady in the box office said that it might go on the road if everything turns out right.

I think it would play really well in the red states. My "walked out on Rent" homophobic mother would totally dig it.

The only reason it really failed on Broadway is NO PROMOTION, Im telling ya if they had the promotion of WICKED or HAIRSPRAY they'd be still on Broadway.

I don't know... It might have been good, and the voices really were incredible... but it didn't really have the creative kitsch hook of, say, Mamma Mia. Will make a ton of money in Ohio.

What was creative about Mamma Mia- girl has 3 fathers, mother cant figure out which one is which, figure it out, falls back in love- gets married.

I'd much rather watch Jenn Gamabatese run around as Ed confusing Chad.

Mamma Mia has an advantage over most jukebox musicals, in that it doesn't take itself that seriously.

And they should be praised for cast first-rate actors, instead of stunt casting the show.

Good point. I also think that people are consistently surprised by the quality and fun of the ABBA tunes. Course, I'm a huge Chess fan, so there's that bias!

I think if promoted online, ASU could have a very successful tour. Even though its not completely true, promote this as the Elvis musical. Make sure that whenever people think All Shook Up, they think Elvis. They didn't do too great a job of this on Broadway (obviously)

I hate the promotion people of ASU. They make me sick. First they take down the huge poster off the marquee right before BROADWAY ON BROADWAY- WHO DOES THAT? I mean this is the time to push you're show thru to the next season all they did was let it hit the ground with a thud. Congrats- you killed a show!

"The only reason it really failed on Broadway is NO PROMOTION"

If you were in line for the tkts booth, you couldn't miss the big-ass billboard of Cheyenne Jackson and the theatre's marquee. And since that's were a LOT of tourists seem to go to get tickets to shows, that should tell you they didn't want to see it. I don't believe the show played well in Chicago either, though Sweet Charity did well (of course, Chicagoans went for Denis O'Hare).

Thats true. But I mean you gotta admit taking it down before Bway on Bway just was killing it.

I have a strong feeling the producers knew it was closing within a week or two by the time the poster came down. re: Will ALL SHOOK UP go on tour?

The Booking Group lists ALL SHOOK UP as available for full week engagements in 2006-2007. So, I'm assuming the tour will kick off then.

re: Will ALL SHOOK UP go on tour?

I don't think it did do well in Chicago, but I think there are two reasons for it:

1.) I don't know how it was promoted in New York, but it was definitely not promoted well in Chicago. They advertised it by saying something about the Shakespearean storyline set to Elvis music. Quite honestly, that does not make it sound too appealing. The only reason I went was because my mom had a discount for really good tickets, and I ended up loving it!

2.) I believe that Spamelot was still there at the same time. In a city that is primarily not a theatre city (yes, there are a lot of small theatres, but the people who go to those shows are other actors, and the people who go to the big shows are a lot of tourists and from the suburbs--for the most part, please don't jump on me for this), people can't afford to spend a lot of money on tickets to shows right now (look at the economy). So, they have to chose what they would prefer to see.

Pndmnd...I agree with you fully....with gas prices like it is right now...shelling out alot of money right now to see a show is not easy to come by.

If the producers have any sense they will take the show to Vegas.
