You are blaming Rodgers and Hammerstein and Joshua Logan????
They did get the Pulitzer.

I would be as happy to see Kelli win as I was when Patti won her first for a real ground breaking performance in EVITA.

I have total respect for the writers (for obvious reasons - seriously, their work is classic) but I was trying to make the point that Kelli O'Hara didn't "wow" me in South Pacific because her part didn't really allow her to "wow" me. It wasn't her place vocally in the score.

Nah, it's all Patti... saw her twice in one week- once from front row- amazing... one of the two best performances i've seen live ever!!!!! I agree with haddaddy about the profanities...

For some reason, call me crazy, me being happy has nothing to do with the Tony awards. I've never taken awards shows seriously though I enjoy them of course. To me, its just a group of people forming an opinion. I didn't tear my hair out when Raul or Sweeney lost. Though I have to say, I don't think O'Hara will win or should. It is Lupone's award. I'm sure South Pacific will take revival and many design awards but Best Actress, not realistic. She should have won for Piazza. Best performance of her career. Besides, she has plently more shows to win for. I'd rather see her take it for something a bit more complex and original. I'm not really on this South Pacific gravy train.

In a perfect world, both Patti and Kelli end winning the tony in a tie a la donna and audra at the drama desk, then both would their deserving Tony and both camps would. Its a long shot, but people can dream can't they

I'm gonna do with Sondhead on this one. Kelli O'hara is one of my favorite performers out there (My profile pic....anyone? anyone?....Bueler?). She is beautiful, talented, and has a truly wonderful voice.

I feel she deserved awards much more for her performances in Piazza and Pajama Game which were terrific, than for South Pacific.

Count me among the few who were not crazy about the South Pacific revival (that's a whole different issue).

Saying that, I have yet to see Ms. Lupone, but if Kelli DOES win this year, I would be certainly happy because she has certainly earned a TONY for her body of work, but a bit dissapointed that it came for a role that I thought was not her strongest, albeit still quite good.

I think Kelli is the odd-on favorite to win the Tony. I wouldn't be surprised if Faith wasn't even nominated. I think it might be Butler, LuPone, O'Hara, Russell and maybe Gonzalez.
